The description on dmoz for my organization, “Order Sons of Italy in America” (or “OSIA”), is incorrect and contains erroneous information. Presently, it says:

"(OSIA) National site for this fraternal order for Italian-American men. Membership information, local lodges, history, contact information, and programs."

OSIA is not a fraternal organization, and it is 50/50 men and women. The text should read: “(OSIA) site for the largest and oldest national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States. Membership information, local lodges, history, contact information, programs, and benefits.”

Can this be fixed? Please let me know if an editor would be able to do it.

Thanks for your help!

You should request for an update on DMOZ itself. Go to the category in which the site is listed an click "update request"
But be aware that requests for descriptions that do not follow the DMOZ guidelines will be rejected. The description your wrote in your post is not acceptable. Please read http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/describing.html#descriptions to see what acceptable descriptions are.
Also requests that can not be verified on the website also will be rejected.

thanks, but I don't see "update request" anywhere. Can you guide me to that? Also, would this description fit the guidelines: “Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) is the largest and oldest national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States. Site offers membership, local lodges, history, programs, benefits, and scholarships.” If not, what do I have to change?

The actual text is "update listing" an can be found at the top of the DMOZ page of the category where your website is listed. Not the search result but the real category.

Also, would this description fit the guidelines: "Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) is the largest and oldest national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States. Site offers membership, local lodges, history, programs, benefits, and scholarships."; If not, what do I have to change?
The guidelines are:
- do not repeat the title in the description
- are concise, informative, and objective [large and oldest are not objective]
