Website that is in two search engines

Hello,

It is my understanding that the website for ZAP World is in two different categories.

The first is electric vehicles, the second is electric scooters.

The only reason I am reporting this is because I was curious in the site submission status forum about multiple searches and an editor suggested to report my concerns.

Thanks,

Looks like zapworld is both a manufacturer (which would merit a listing in the Business tree) and sells online (which would explain the listing in Shopping).

A site that is listed in a topical category can also be listed in Regional if it has a regional/local aspect. (Zapworld is a local employer and the site has content on that.)

What is unusual is the two listings in the Business tree. One of them I think is slightly misplaced and I have moved it to a sub-category. But it looks like one of those cases where it is hard to select one perfect category. Maybe we need a Business editor to drop by.

I see that too jean, I also see a Science cat that comes into play. Looks like some internal work needs to be addressed. ;)
Maybe we need a Business editor to drop by.

Clarification

To the question raised, yes, Zap is a manufacturer and also a retailer at the same time. However, Electric Transportation Solutions is a retailer of all different types of electric vehicles (scooters, bikes, vehicles).

I hope this helps and thank you for looking into it further.

As I stated before, I was checking on my site submission status and was curious as to if an editor was telling me to only apply for one category (when I sell electric bikes, scooters and vehicles), yet Zap had multiple categories.

The editor suggested to post a comment here and the response was very quick.

Thanks,

One company in same category twice

Now I have realized that the same company has two listings in the same category (electric vehicles).

The listing is for http://www.zapworld.com

My listing is http://www.electrictransport.net and I have been trying to be listed only once in the same category since early October.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I'm afraid that posting your site in this forum will not expedite a review. You must understand that if we did that, we would be innundated with webmasters clamouring for immediate review.

As far as I can see www.zapworld.com is not listed twice in any category. It is listed (once each time) in these categories:
http://dmoz.org/Business/Automotive/Motorcycles/Scooters/Manufacturing/
http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Sporting_Goods/Cycling/Electric/
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Vehicles/Motorcycles/Scooters/
http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...Localities/S/Sebastopol/Business_and_Economy/

Are you saying that the same firm is also listed under another name and domain?

Clarification

Thank you for your response.

I am clearly aware that my site will not get reviewed quicker because I might post the site there.

I was merely making the point of my concern of the violation and how I was suggested to make a post in this area from the site submission area.

As for the Zapworld (not the one page listing) but when you do an advanced search it lists twice.

After reading the previous correspondence about multiple listings and looking at where the listings came from, I realized that the same site was in two different locations as identified in an advanced search.

Apologies for the confusion.

Clarification

Hello,

To respond to the initial question about ZAPWORLD listings, what I am saying is that in one discussion room, a moderator stated that one website cannot be listed in more than one category.

What I have been referring to is that I have submitted my site to various applicable categories.

That is when the moderator in the site submission status discussion room suggested to respond in the abuse area because no website should be listed in more than one category.

You are saying they can be listed in more than one category: Which is it?

Clarification, I hope.

ok, two different things, here.

I'm not sure what was said in other discussions (perhaps you can provide a link so that we can see and correct any misconceptions). But here is what I understand of the way it works.

The main thing is that you are confusing the concept of suggestions (or submissions) with that of listings.

A suggestion of an english-language site should be made to:
* At most one category not in the Regional tree, if a good one can be found.
* If the site has regional relevance (i.e. is a local store) then submit once to the category in the Regional "tree" for the locality where the office/business is based.

If the site also has content in a foreign language (and not just automatically translated) then it can also be submitted to the appropriate sub-categories in the World "tree"

Please note that this has nothing to do whatsoever with how many times a site can be listed in the ODP - that part is purely up to editor's discretion. I hope that the distinction is clear, now.
