wedding-invitations-store.com

I have submitted the above mentioned site several times over the last 4 months, and it has never been included.

Could someone check the status.

The category I am trying to get listed in is:

Shopping: Weddings: Invitations and Announcements

I know this forum is not the right place to argue about submissions / rejections. But, is there a place where decisions can be appealed?

Decisions can be appealed here if there is a genuine reason for appeal. The arguments "but we're listed in Yahoo", "but surely you can make an exception", "but other sites like mine are listed", and "that's not fair" are *not* good reasons to appeal. The argument "I have completely re-vamped my site and it now contains no affiliate links, and is full of original content" would be a good reason.

If you have re-worked your site in a significant way, we'd be happy to take another look at it.

Since I received the go-ahead to explain my point, I will try to make my case.
Our company operates 5 websites. Each website is catered to a specific target market and is specifically designed for the intended target market.
The main site is invitationconsultants.com. The other sites are birth-announcements-store.com, wedding-invitations-store.com, graduation-announcements-store.com, holiday-cards-store.com.
They are not mere mirror sites of the main site. Each site has separate toll-free numbers and a dedicated staff for each one of them.
Although there might be some overlap as to the products sold, some products can only be bought on certain sites.
Each site also contains unique content.
For example:
www.wedding-invitations-store.com contains an 'Invitation Guide' with wedding etiquette information that is nowhere to be found on our other affiliated sites. The sample wording section is much more elaborate as well.
www.holiday-cards-store.com contains a 'Corporate Corner' with specific information for corporations, as this site is partly geared towards corporate customers, unlike our other sites.
www.birth-announcements-store offers the possiblity to pre-order birth announcements. This feature is specifically designed for birth announcements.
There are more examples.
Conclusion:
Yes, we operate 5 different sites, that are affiated because they are owned by the same company. But I believe each one of them deserves a place in the DMOZ directory, as they are not just mirror sites, but different sites, with a different look and different content targeted for different audiences.

It's redundant to send the end user to the same source when they can get the same info on the main company website. It may be good marketing to setup pages for a targeted market but it's not good for a web directory. Directories strive to index a variety of unique content. The products offered on the targeted sites are not unique since they can be purchased from the main site.

We really don't care how many different phone numbers you might have. Even if the different sites had different offices and were run by different companies, the content they offer is all available at http://invitationconsultants.com.

The 'unique content' examples you give are basically just ordering instructions for various different types of cards. This does not count as useful content.

As I said before, unless your sites change radically, you will not get a listing for them. We have rules to follow about what does and doesn't get listed, and explaining why you think those rules are flawed will not change anything.

Hi,

Thanks for the information. I was not trying to say that your rules are flawed. I was just trying to make an honest attempt to have the sites listed. Apparantly, it's against the rules, so I won't insist.
