For the past two years I have tried submitting my site to category "Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Hosted Components and Services: Message Boards"

Every 6 months I submit it, with no success.
All my competitors are submitted, so can you give me hints to know why my site can't get submitted?
I read all the instructions, and did my best to respect them.

Thank you for your help.
Best.

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them. Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years.

Every 6 months I submit it
There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

I understand your point, thanks for the inputs.
It was only a bit frustrating to see all my competitors validated and not me, for 2 years now. I understand it's a volunteer job, I don't want to rush anybody. I just wanted to understand why I wasn't validated, it's clearer now.
Thank you for your help.

Apparently the category was well built up, two years ago: all the relevant sites listed (except one, but that's a very minor detail, nobody's completely perfect!)

And now the editors are busy where surfers need MUCH more help, because the categories weren't built up anything LIKE perfectly, and haven't aged so gracefully.

There's still no predicting when the category will be worked on next: it may be that the editors will continue to work where they're needed most -- or it may be that this category was so well built up because one particular volunteer thought it was important. And that volunteer may still be active, and expecting to edit tomorrow afternoon -- or he may be dead.

We don't know. That's why, whatever the circumstances, it always comes down to: "ome volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be."
