What if there is no editor for a category?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I wasn't able to find anything on it when I searched. I would be grateful if someone could point me to a past post if one exists.

Does it mean a category has no editor if no editor names are displayed?

What happens to a submission in the advent that the category it is submitted to has no editor? Does it wait in a que until an editor volunteers to edit the category?

If someone is in this situation should they consider finding a category that is similar that has an editor and submit their site there instead, in the hope that it may be listed in that category or that the editor will move it to the category without an editor?

Thanks.

Editors avoid listing websites in wrong categories. They move them to the right ones - to the pile awaiting review quite often. Your proposed strategy stands a fair chance of having two waits instead of one.

It seems there are a few categories that our website could be listed in which are very similiar. Some other sites which are similar to ours, are listed in another category which is the reason I was contemplating this idea.

I'm wondering if they choose that category to list in because the one we applied for listing in doesn't seem to have an editor.

Any one editor may edit in several categories but usually does not list her/his name at the bottom. Any one category will have hundreds of editors yet has no name at the bottom. A name at the bottom has no bearing on how quickly a site is listed. :)
