Someone else with different permissions will have to provide you with the update. I'll answer your question.

If someone would please explain to me why it is taking so long for this to be included in the open directory I would appreciate it.

I'm not sure what your expectations are; but I'd like to suggest that they need to be reset.

The Open Directory Project makes no commitment as to how long it will take an editor to review a suggested URL. We routinely tell people it can take froma few hours to more than two years. A quick browse through previous postings will confirm this.

Further, we make absolutely no commitment to list any given site. We will look at suggested sites (that is very far from being our highest priority) but no one should expect that a submission automatically equates to a listing.

We often say (and people get really mad at us when we do) that the ODP is not a listing service. We are building a directory of websites with unique content for the benefit of the users of our data. Anything else is secondary.

Hope this helps.

Now, having said all that, I have a suggestion.

Your business is located in Cleveland.

You should also submit to Regional/North_America/United_States/Ohio/Localities/C/Cleveland/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ since you might be entitled to listings in both areas of the directory.

Maybe yes, maybe no, but it only takes a second to submit and it won't have any impact on the consideration of your other suggestion.

my expectations

"I'm not sure what your expectations are; but I'd like to suggest that they need to be reset."

my "expectations" are that the site become "listed" in the "open directory project" as are just about everyone elses' that have ever posted anything in this forum. I "expect" to have a mature reponse in return to my inquiry and not a holier-than-thou type of response that you have relayed in your response. you might want to offer assistance instead of telling people to "reset" expectations. Therefore that being said I expect YOU to RESET YOUR EXPECTATIONS and stop pretending to be GOD. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have such mental wherewithall to understand all the conditions that are supposively required to be met before a URL is submitted as you seem to have - I didn't study every single possible detail of all the guidelines - you'll have to excuse me for that - I do have a life outside of my computer and I don't sit in front of it as much as you seem to.

When is my site going to be listed? why does it take so long? Who's running things over there besides a bunch of volunteers? if you people spent half of the time posting websites into the directories and the other half the time answering posts - it surely wouldn't take very long to get ontop of things.

Priorities people - priorities. If you had to wait this long to get a paycheck - I bet things would definitely be different.

When is my site going to be listed?

There is no guarantee that it will ever be listed.

why does it take so long?

Because we are not a listing service.

Who's running things over there besides a bunch of volunteers?

Just a bunch of us volunteers, which works out fine because we are not a listing service and make absolutely no commitments as to when a site will be reviewed or if a given site will ever be listed.

if you people spent half of the time posting websites into the directories and the other half the time answering posts - it surely wouldn't take very long to get ontop of things.

OK, thank you for the advice.
