What went wrong?

Hi

I am really asking myself an you: what went wrong in the recent years with dmoz.org?
Is it only a lack of money? Are the editors don't do their work, because they
are not interested any more.

anyway. I suggested a number of sites, recently, especially sites related to
art. I don't think that the suggestions where checked. So maybe it is time to recheck the work of all the editors. If it goes on like this this project will
lose any reputation and therefore it will disappear soon.

Thank you for your concern, wolkenunddreck, :). Have you thought of joining us and becoming an editor? Then, you can see for yourself, first hand.

yes...

i thought about becoming an editor: but maybe this is the
first thing, that should be redesigned: this form "becoming an editor". Sorry: but I did some research in the field of website usability: you can't make it more difficult for a person, who is wanting to join you....At the end, after working through all this text and comments and "how to"... I get a nice serial of error messages - and the data I put in was lost.
So if you are desperately seeking for editors: make it more simple:) Okay, I can imagine the rubbish of incoming demands for registration of websites...it must be a tough work:) So. please just take this as a feedback: Everything, except this resource zone here, has leave the impression of a city surrounded by very high walls.

best regards, wolkenunddreck

I don't suppose you could help us by remembering what these error messages were, and when they appeared? Perhaps there's a bug that we could try to address, but we'll need more information to get started...

error messages

sorry, I don't remember the messages, that appeared during the process, but
I can remember, that I break of the process, in the moment when I try to put in the right code of the picture (security), the "dasdf89". I try it four times, it was definitely the right code that was displayed in the picture.
But this won't help you much:
I will try it once again: and I will report my experiences here, this time. I will try to apply for a very small category: Arts: digital: Installations and Performances. lets see what happens:)

The "picture code" (captcha) appears when submitting an URL, not when you apply to be an editor.

yes, you are right...

...I mixed the problems: (this is a normal thing, I know it from several usabiltiy tests:) The test subject says: there was something, that makes me think: but I can't remember what it was: I promise to make a screenshot, next time.

this time, after working through the questions:
I received the mail:

Thanks for applying to become an editor!

so let's see, what will hapening next.
