Dear Administrators. We would be really pleased to obtain your advice!!!Certainly, we understand how many sites are submitted to you every day, so your time dedicated to us would be twice valuable and highly appreciable. We are trying to submit our web site - <url removed>, already three years, but there is something wrong with this submission. Could you be so kind and give us just a hint, why it's happening this way? The problem is that we don't have even a clue of our fault, <url removed> currently comes out on top in Google search for Voip Providers. We are constantly updating it and a lot of new providers register with us every day. So we are really looking forward for your reply!

Not being listed doesn't mean that there is anyone at fault. We don't discuss specific URL's here (I expect the URL's to actually be removed from your post eventually) but in general a site not being listed is one of two things:
  1. It is unlistable according to our guidelines.
  2. It hasn't been reviewed yet. (this could also be due to being mis-suggested to the wrong category and being moved for review)

In the case of #1, there isn't anything necessarily wrong with the site. It just isn't what we are looking for. As long as it meets the needs of your target audience then it won't matter anyway. In our experience, most sites deemed unlistable by our guidelines can not be changed in a way to make them compliant so discussing it would be pointless.

In the case of #2, there is no way of prediciting when an editor will have time or desire to edit in any particular category. And this is the most common cause of listable sites not being included. All you can do is verify that the site fits the guidelines, is suggested once to the best category, and is compliant with the Site Selection Criteria.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply!

Dear Shadow, thank you very much for your reply. I've checked the list of websites in your directory today. I have met a lot of our rivalry sites, and unfortunately we have strong evidence that many of them have copied our content. Actually, we were among the first, when VoIP became so extremely popular, and that is why it is twice harder not to be listed, if you know what I mean:) As I said in my previous post we are still on the first position with Google, and that is why it is so pity, and difficult to understand why we are not listed with our website, what is utterly important to us, because your directory has such a strong reputation and respect. We understand that the directory is really huge, and editors are extremely busy, but still we hope that maybe after three years of expectations we get so strongly desired registration! We kindly ask you if it is possible to check our status and reveal this information to us.

Thank you in advance!

I apologize for an apparent misunderstanding. You should not be 'expecting' anything in regards to a listing in dmoz. dmoz.org is not a listing service and there is no guarantee that any site will be listed nor is there an timeframe allotted to perform a review.
Google ranking plays no part in editorial reviews, so placement in Google or any other search engine is irrelevant (for a listing). I am sorry it is not possible to perform a status check, it is a service that we do not offer on these forums.
Really the only thing you can and should do is submit (suggest) to the single best category and move along with your other strategies for promotion. There is no way to expedite a review or to predict when an editor might be interested in performing one.

Regards.

This is not the place for legal advice, but if other sites have copied from you, there are legal avenues in most civilized countries. If you force the offending content to be removed, then you can suggest that we re-review the stripped-down sites, and if that was the critical part of the site, obviously we'd remove the listing.
