I submitted what I thought was a perfect submission, after reading the guidlines carefully.
It was in the right category, it was perfect.
My description was objective and clear without using sales talk..

Are some categories dead? ie. No body checks them anymore, or are there biased editors who won't approve competitions?

Please help
Many thanks

Thank you.

However:
- We don't decline listable websites because they've been suggested to the wrong place - we move them.
- We don't decline listing suggestions because they are promotional - we rewrite them.

We do decline unlistable websites though. See http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

What? In every single one of the categories to which you've suggested the website in your profile? Did you not read the part of the form that said you should suggest a website just once to the one best category?

Excessive listing suggestions increase the editorial workload, thus slowing down the whole process for everybody :(.

Thanks a lot!
