I guess what you are asking is "why does my site not turn up in search results when it is listed in a category?"

The search function of dmoz is not always completely up to date. If you've only recently been listed then that's probably why.

On the other hand, if you've only just submitted your site, you will have to wait for an editor to review and list it before it will show on the public side.

If you can navigate to the category in question and see your site listed there then it will be picked up by other users of the directory, such as Google, regardless of whether or not it appears in the search results.

Hope that helps. :)

Searching for URLs starting with www generally doesn't work - I don't know why. However, I do get search results searching for lodgingbarcelona.com, and am not sure why you don't. In any case, don't worry about the dmoz.org search engine. It is not used very much other than by dmoz editors.

If you're only searching for URL matches, try preceeding your query with 'u:', eg 'u:google.com' will return all subdomains and deeplinks of google.com that we have listed.

For more, read our Search Guide which has full details about how the search facility works and which extra paramters you can use.
