When is RDF files going to update?

Hello there..I was just curious when the RDF files are going to update? I noticed the ones from April 24th are still there..I was under the understanding that they updated around once per week..Is this correct?

Anyway, just curious..

Thanks
Steve

The RDF is produced 3 or 4 times per month, about weekly. Occasionally one is missing if it has errors, or there was downtime with servers, etc. There are server upgrades going on for several weeks now, so there have been interruptions. Expect to see the next one in the next week if there are no further problems.

The RDF is used for many things. It is used to update the ODP search. Due to upgrades, the search is unlikely to be having new RDF data for at least several weeks.

The RDF is used by downstream users such as the Google Directory. They have their own update schedule, and may be back tomorrow or may not do anything for many weeks or months. We have no way of knowing.

I appreciate the responses. I was just curious when my newly indexed site would appear on searches. I am also considering adding the ODP data to my website for Astronomy and Weather sites. I just wanted to have the latest data..

Thanks for the info!!

> Why does it matter?

Well if it didn't matter, there would be no point in updating the data at all..!

I think it's more a question of 'why stress if it's a few days, or even a couple of weeks late'.

It will arrive, getting concerned won't make it any faster to appear.

To me, it simply looked like the enquirer realises that the current data is almost a month old, and as he needs to use the data he simply wanted to know whether new data would be out very soon, in which case he'll wait for it, or whether it is going to be much longer in which case he'll go with what is already available right now.

I know that if I had spent many hours doing something with old data and just as I was finishing, or immediately after I finished, a whole load of new information came along, I would feel that I had wasted my time.

A new RDF appeared hours after my last post above.

The next one is likely to be a week from now (just as long as there is no downtime or interruptions).

The search feature is unlikely to be reindexed anytime in the next month, as too many hardware and sofware changes are happening in this period.

If you want it, use the RDF now. Search, well, maybe you can search the RDF? It won't be rebuilt for a good while on ODP for reasons mentioned above.
