Our company designs websites and we are in a regional category in DMOZ. Does anyone know if it makes a difference which category you are in when it comes to the likes of Google using ODP data to index sites or is it enough just to be in the directory?

We can not answers questions related to other sites only questions directly related to DMOZ. For us a sites will be placed in the one best category. Influences this might have on how search engines value your site can and will be of no interest for us in deciding where to list a site.

Thinking about Google pagerank CAN delay an ODP listing...if it leads you to submit to the wrong category.

Because it will just wait for an editor to move it to the right category (possibly taking more than one stage) where it can start waiting for an editor to review it for a listing.
