Who chooses the text in Google Directory listing?

My site has finally been listed in Google , but they are using ancient text we no longer use for promotion.
My understanding is that Google Directory is automated, so that they just automatically pick up what is in DMOZ.

So why didn't they use the same text that is listed in DMOZ?
How can I request better text for the Google Directory?

Thanks

Google Directory does automatically pick up the ODP directory, but usually only once in several months. If the descriptions are different, there is nothing we can do. It's up to Google to keep their database current.

No one knows exactly - it's not under out control. It actually depends on what you type in as the search string in order to find your site in Google. If you type in the DMOZ title - you most likely get the DMOZ description. If you type in a string that's not similar to your DMOZ title you get a different result.

ADDED

I'm talking about doing a regular Google search - not a Google directory search.

But as noted, Google may take a few months before updating to the latest version of the DMOZ title/description, so allow for that.
