Who knows a webfilter that can stop Flash adverts?

A certain popular website that begins with Ya and ends in hoo has this nasty habit of allowing Flash advertisements to take over your screen. It's getting right up my bottom and I'm getting sick of it. :mad:
I know there's ways you can block Flash animations...so does anyone know good ways of doing it:question:

Hmm, where do I find that setting in Mozilla?

I have vers 1.2.1 and can't see it. There is a block images from this server setting, but that only blocks .gif and .jpg images.

I belong to a YahooGroup, and if I open only four or five new messages each in a separate tab then the Flash adverts slow the machine down to an absolute crawl.

Disable Flash as a plug-in.

Should be possible in any browser that supports Flash as a plug-in.

In theory it's possible. But thanks to Micro$oft's typical rubbish you have to go for a romp through the registry before that's fixed.

Removing Flash from Mozilla is a simple case of deleting the file C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\plugins\NPSWF32.dll .

If you use Mozilla Firebird, download Flash Click To View so that you have to click on animations before they start to download. Floppy Moose may also help you.

Is there anything like that coming up for Mozilla?

That looks to be just what I need.

No idea. Tell you what - back up your C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Mozilla * and C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla folders and then install it. If it all goes pear-shaped then you can restore everything.

* = May be C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla or C:\Windows\Profiles\[user]\Application Data\Mozilla if you use Windows 95/98/Me.
