I would highly recommend that you not apply to become an editor because you want your site listed faster. Note that you need to be able to write reasonably well in the language of the category you're applying to edit.

On the surface it would seem so but (and I mean absolutely no offense by this), judging by your grammar and spelling here in this thread, your written English really isn't good enough.

Sins 2000 I'm working and leaving in NY, USA.

Translated according to the words used - "Bad actions 2000 I'm working and departing in NY, USA"

Translated according to my interpretation of your meaning - "I have worked and lived in New York, USA, since 2000."

Do you really, seriously think there is an ODP editor could delete your business? And would tell you about it in a public place so that you could call the police?

Go back to work and check, if you like. Your business is still the same place it was yesterday, for all we know. Really. The bank account, inventory, office furnishings, records, contracts and customers, employees -- I promise you, jjwill did not touch any single asset of your business.

I suspect it was jjwill's previous post that was deleted.

It's simple really, he deleted a post he made. Just like I deleted a post I made in this thread, only I actually deleted it so that it is not able to be seen. He only edited his post, writing that he deleted it.

The answer to your question:

can editor submit his own website(s)?

Yes an editor can add their own site IF it is listable per the guidelines of Dmoz and belongs in the category you are an editor in.

An editor can do anything a submitter can -- just don't log in to the ODP.

Some things are unethical, rude, and antisocial whether done by editors or submitters. Submitting an inappropriate (affiliate/doorway/drop-ship/ad-banner) site is spam, whether an editor or a submitter does it, whether it is your site or not! Submitting a good site is an act of generosity, whether an editor or submitter does it, whether it is your site or not!

But--people who are obsessed about who owns a site, while apparently indifferent about whether it contains content, do not possess an attitude that lends itself to being contributors to humanity in any form or venue.

Yes, of course. Please read the instructions and FAQ pertaining to site submission. An editor can submit as many sites as they wish. The websites must pass muster just like any other suggestion made by anyone else. If you are alluding to the fact that an editor can include their sites in the directory without any consideration of the standard of quality and integrity of DMOZ, then you will be sadly mistaken. That is why you were advised not to volunteer to be an editor. You may or may not have a hidden agenda; no one here can accuse you of that. But if you, yourself, look at this situation rationally, I am certain that your perception of the process will change. I am not belittling your desire to volunteer, just that your motive may seem self promoting and detrimental to the rest of the community relying on unbiased and fair evaluation process.
