Why has my site not been added?

I've posted my site a few times over the past year and a half and still have not found it listed! Does my site not meet standards or something? I've looked at a few of the sites listed that would be in the same category as mine and although some are of better quality than mine, a lot are just bad; missing links, poor content, lack of content, bad page layout, ect. So if some of these sites are getting through, why not mine?

Does it take more than a year and a half to get added to the list?

What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks,
-Josh

You have done everything you need to do by suggesting your site once. Further suggestions were an unnecessary waste of everyone's time, but unless you repeated it many times rather than the "few" you mention, it is unlikely your site has been blocked for spamming.
The ODP is not a listing service, and reviewing suggestions is not a priority for volunteers, but an editor will no doubt find your site one day and consider it for listing. There are no time frames involved.
If you would like more information on how the ODP works, you might like to read the description here: http://www.dmoz.org/about.html

Some of those sites might need re-review; but things like "a page layout that doesn't appeal to you or me" doesn't make a site unlistable.

An ODP editor will review your submission to determine whether to include it in the directory. Depending on factors such as the volume of submissions to the particular category, it may take several weeks or more before your submission is reviewed. Please only submit a URL to the Open Directory once. Again, multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites. Disguising your submission and submitting the same URL more than once is not permitted.

That says several weeks or more, should state, several weeks to years or more.

I've submitted my site three times. I would have only submitted once, but without any verification that my submission made it to where it needs to go, I have no way of knowing if it made it into any type of queue.

I will not submit anymore, and just wait patiently. Hopefully someday someone will get to my site. :)

You did get a verification that the suggestion was received.
It was on the screen directly after you finished the suggestion.
