You're probably searching for the wrong thing. Try searching for "domainname.ext" (not "www.domainname.ext"). If that doesn't work, come back and let us know which domain isn't being found, and we'll look into it.

Hi,

We (http://www.rollergirl.ca) are listed in the /sports/skating/roller skating/aggressive/ category but we are nowhere to be seen for any of the following searches (or any other searches for that matter):

rollergirl.ca
rollergirl
roller skates
roller skating

Can you help me figure out what's wrong ?

Thanks

ps We also would like to be listed in the /shopping/sport/skating/roller skating/ category considering we also sell roller skates (in addition to our aggressive roller skating information side), we submitted our site but it never got posted...thanks againg!

If you do a search for anything else, you'll see "Search database last updated on: Fri Apr 25". Your site was listed after that date. We're not expecting the search database to be updated again for a while, try again in a month's time.

http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=rollergirl.ca
http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=rollergirl

find your site,

http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=roller+skates
http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=roller+skating

don't (although the second one finds http://dmoz.org/Sports/Skating/Roller_Skating/ ), but that's normal, since the site's title and description are 'RollerGirl - Rollerskater and skatepark reviews, a forum, movies, pictures, and a store.' This is perfectly normal for the Search function. It's not supposed to find your site for all the keywords you would find relevant (we don't list keywords, we only try to provide accurate titles and descriptions conforming to our Editorial Guidelines), so there would be no point in asking that your listing be changed.

Hope that helps...

Ah.

We have two search servers, and it looks like one of them has been updated and the other one hasn't. This happened last time we had problems, and it means that the results shown aren't predictable. Sometimes you'll get results from one machine, and sometimes you'll get results from the other. At the next update they'll probably get back into sync again, and your site will show reliably.

Well... first time I see my site in a dmoz search resutl... the search must have been updated recently.

It's too bad that our description was changed... It seems to me it would just be appropriate that we'd show up for "roller skates" and "roller skating". After all this is what the site is about...

Can't my description be changed sightly to accomodate at least "roller skates" ?

Thanks

It seems to me that the two points here are well covered in the two posts immediately preceding yours.

About the search, dfy wrote "two search servers ... one of them has been updated and the other one hasn't".

About listing keywords, tuisp wrote "we don't list keywords, we only try to provide accurate titles and descriptions ... no point in asking that your listing be changed".

... and we try hard to not repeat in the description, words that are already mentioned in the category path.
