Why my site was gone?

A few days ago, my site was still listed, but I found that it has been removed today, I don't know what happened.

I also checked with submission guidelines and editor section, but I don't think my site is one of sites that are listed there.

Can anyone tell me what I can do and where I can get some helps?

No, other sites are still there, thats a small category with only 4 or 5 sites.

OK, then it was most likely removed by an editor.

There are no "permanent" listings; and this millenium, re-reviewing listings is a very large part of editing activity.

i do understand there are no permanent listing, but editor doesn't remove site without any reason, so I just want to know why my site was removed suddenly? what rule I have broken? I don't wanna get punished without any reason.

Is there a way I can make an appeal or is it possible to send an email to that editor?

I got a couple of sites, but there was only one site that was listed on dmoz which I was very proud of, however, its all gone, wondering what i did wrong.

There's no "right" or "wrong" -- there's just editors trying to provide an index to sites with unique content.

There is no "punishment", it's just editors trying to build dmoz.org into the most useful site according to its principles.

There's no discussion, how would it help us to get dragged into drawn-out discussions about every edit operation, when the vast vast majority do serve the ODP mission (which may not be yours.) And in any case the website must stand on its own.

You can re-suggest it, which should give the editor a chance to re-review it once more. And you can review the site, to see why a visitor might have thought it provided no unique information--if that is even something that matters to you (I have no way of knowing whether or not that is part of your mission.)

Can I ask why you would feel it necessary to check every few days to see if it is still listed?

Is it because you feared that it would be delisted at any time?

And if so, why did you think that it would be delisted?

Sound like you kept on checking, waiting for it to happen, somewhen, soon.

No, i dont keep on checking the site. I reviewed it on domaintools.com because I wanted to check the alexa rank comparing to other similar sites to get an idea how many hits those sites have, then I found out the site was delisted.

Where did the OP state they were checking the listing "every" few days?

Possibly your site was not removed by the cat editor but a meta etc as a result of complaints aka attacks, or maybe even more sinister a payoff on your site by competitors.

sites is are only removed for one of the following

* the site was not avaialble for some time
* the site has changed and does not meet the DMOZ guidelines anymore
* the site changed and now better fits in another category, it is waiting review in that other category
* the guidelines changed and the site doesn't meet the new guidelines

Such events are rather rare, and would be investigated thoroughly by several experienced editors to ensure that innocent sites weren't penalised by mistake.

To add to pvgool's list, it's also possible that the site was originally listed by mistake, or that the site was de-listed or sent for re-review by mistake. Needless to say, we do our best to avoid such mistakes -- by educating and mentoring new editors, and by allowing editors to review the work of others and report any problems.

There are very few webmasters who have so thoroughly irritated other people, that the other people would pay money to have them harmed in such a trivial way. (After all, that level of jerkishness generally precludes its bearer from being important enough to matter to anyone.)

Even webmasters who have obtained editing permission through deceit and have followed that up with treacherous, self-centered abuse, aren't systematically expunged from the directory. And what could an outside whiner do that would infuriate an editor more than that?

I guess it was also checked a few times before too.
