Why not connect the forum ID with editor's ID?

Fresh hand here and found that I have to apply for Editor's account even if I have forum account. It seems not so reasonable for I have to use two accounts do one thing and those two accounts have nothing to do with each other, am I right? Why not let the editor become the part function of forum account or something like that, so we can share experience, communication and edit things easily.

The DMOZ editor account is connected with the DMOZ forum account.
But this is not the DMOZ forum. This is a forum run by a few editors to let people from outside DMOZ ask questions.
The DMOZ forum is for editors to communicate with each other. It has no official relation with DMOZ.

To add to the answer above, we can and do change usernames here to match editor names on DMOZ.

To be a member of this public forum (RZ) all you need to do is sign up with a valid email. Quite a few editors lurk and post on this forum.

To be an editor at DMOZ (and so be able to add and edit listings in the directory, and access the separate DMOZ private forum) you need to complete an application, which is reviewed by senior editors; not all are accepted...

I did send the application, but have no response yet. Is there anything I can do to increase the probability of being the editor? Because I did not think a senior editor can get comprehensive evaluation from simple questions in the application, maybe they have other requirements on the websites or anything else but not expressed in the application.

There is nothing that can be done beside writing a good application.
We are very capable of selecting the good applications and the bad ones.
A good application is complete and honest. And shows that the person does understand our guidelines about writing titles and descriptions.
If an application is rejected learn from the comments and try again solving the issues. Many editors had to try more than once.
