Why would a completely valid user focused site be removed?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could shed some light on my situation. My site has been list on Dmoz for over a couple of years and i have just notice that our listing has been removed?

I would like to understand why this would happen? As the purpose of the site has not change only that we have made it more user friendly with better navigation and features.

<URL deleted>

It worries me to read in the quality control forum that sites are being remove in mass without being validated is this true?

Regards,

Matthew (very concerned)

there are a few reason why a site will be removed

1) the content of the site did change and the site does no longer meet the DMOZ guidelines (permanently removed)
2) the DMOZ guidelines did change and the site is no longer listable (permanently removed)
3) the site did change but is still listable, the new content does fit better in another category (the site is moved to the other category and is waiting review, temporarily not visible for the public)
4) the site was not available for some time and one of our tools or an editor did remove it from public view (temporary, it will be checked at a later date, if it remains to be unavailable it wil be removed permanently else it will be listed again)

Are you sure that your site has been removed from the directory? It looks like its currently listed to me...

You can search for it using the box at http://www.dmoz.org/ , but you need to just enter the domain name without the http or www bits. So if your site is http://www.example.org/ then you should search for example.org

Thanks pvgool,

By the process of elimination it's none of them. (obviously this is my opinion)

What would you recommend I should do?

One - Resubmit the site
Two - Report is as abuse as I have no evidence but it will be investigated
Three - Wait and see if it get re-listed by chance
Four - Get upset and cry about it :(

I feel that the lack of communication of reasons why the site has been taken down leaves me feeling left in the dark with my hands tied behind my back.

Wait a minute... It's back up again!

So i guess option 3 was the best solution.

read what chaos127 has written (his message was probably posted while you were writing yorus)

No. There is no need to suggest a deleted site again. It is either removed permanently or is waiting a new review.

> Two - Report is as abuse as I have no evidence but it will be investigated
Why do you think it is abuse? Such remarks always tell me more about the person asking the question than it does about DMOZ or its editors.

> Three - Wait and see if it get re-listed by chance
Seems a good thing to do.

> Four - Get upset and cry about it :(
Well I can't stop you getting upset but I would see no reason. It is just a lisiting not something that your life depends on.

> Wait a minute... It's back up again!
I can tell you it was never removed at all. So you got upset for nothing.
