Wondering about relationship with Google

My site finally got in DMOZ, but it is not showing up in Google Directory. I thought that was where Google got its directory. Any idea why my site would not be showing up in Google?

Sites that use ODP data can use it as little, or as much, as they so desire. The frequency at which Google updates is something many webmasters and Internet watchers have longed to understand. Since the ODP has no control over other sites, I would recommend a Google search for Google Update.

Another way would be to compare Google's version of a category to the ODP's version. You should see 'Last update: date' at the bottom of the ODP cateogory screen. If it has been recent, you can then compare to Google listings to see what is missing/included.

The Google directory has recently been updating at a frequency of about once every six months. This has been a recent trend and may change in the near future. The last update that I remember was about four weeks ago.
