All I get is a page with a link to a search engine. If that is all there is, I could have got the same from Google !

Uh, no, its a page with a frog logo at the top, and about 50 pages worth of freebies content.

Your site is a directory, so many editors would prefer to harvest links rather than add the site, particularly as most of the sites appear to already be in the ODP. This is even more true when the directory consists primarily of affiliate links.

Well, its not much different than most of the sites in that category(in terms of being a directory and having alot of affiliate links). Freebie links pages are meant to be like that, if you'll take a look. If they are listed, why can't I be?

Archbob,

<<If they are listed, why can't I be?>>

Uhgg!!! If you are an editor you know that is the poorest reason for listing a site that there is.
Just because a category might be in bad shape - there's no sense in making it worse.

My 2-cents

Well, see you don't seem to get the point, I'm also a dmoz editor myself. "Freebie link pages" are meant to be like that. They are in essense a big directory of free stuff links. Since you have a category dedicated to them, I don't see why you can't add my site which fits in with the guidelines and rightfully belongs in that categories, every site in that category is similiar in structure to mine. There no point in having a category called "freebie link pages" if you don't allow "freebie link pages" in dmoz. Looksmart had no trouble giving me a free listing in a same category over there and they are run by professional paid editors. My site contains no more ads than the average freebie link page.

Another Uhgg!
Just because a site is listed elsewhere does not guarantee a listing in dmoz. As an editor do you expect special treatment? If your site was reviewed and rejected - accept it and move on. I will not comment further on this subject and suggest reading the guidelines that state "We care a great deal about the quality of the ODP. We aren't a search engine and pride ourselves on being highly selective. We don't accept all sites, so please don't take it personally should your site not be accepted. Our goal is to make the directory as useful as possible for our users, not to have the directory include all (or even most) of the sites that could possibly be listed or serve as a promotional tool for the entities listed."
The above quote can be found at http://dmoz.org/add.html .

My 4-cents and last on this subject (don't take it personally),

Dave

Well, I'm not pushing for my site to be listed as now I see it has little effect on my google ranking, I don't expect any kind of treatment just because I'm an editor. But I still don't see any good valid reason to not accept my site, it fits the guidelines perfectly. BTW:Looksmart free listings are also highly selective since they charge PPC for most of their sites.

Actually I don't think it was ever reviewed in the year and a half since I submitted to that category.

I'm confused. These statements:

"I'm an editor"

and

"Actually I don't think it was ever reviewed in the year and a half since I submitted to that category."

are incongruous. If you are an editor, you would know whether it has been reviewed.

"If you are an editor, you would know whether it has been reviewed."

That is not exactly true. I mean, it is easy to find out as an editor, but that does not mean that 2 and 2 were put together /images/icons/smile.gif

I just edit my category, I don't look into the others that much. I have read the description of the category I submitted my site to and it fits my sites. Where do I find out, I'm not an editor for my site's category.
