www.bid2build.com

Hello all,

We submitted our URL appx 1 mth or so ago and it is not yet listed. My questions are as follows:

1. Are we still in the queue (I tried to submit a few more times thinking that it did not take correctly so hopefully this did not disqualify me as a spammer).

2. If we are in the queue, is there a long wait list for the category (Construction/software) and if so, what time period should I expect before possible submission or is there a better location to list this

3. The web site has several areas which are still “under construction”, however we are selling software and there is a discount applied to those interested while the site is under completion (target date 10/15). Therefore, we think there is merit in having our site listed now for informational and business purposes. We just want to make sure this somehow doesn’t disqualify us because the site is “still under construction”.

4. The last question may be outside of this forum, once we are listed, will that also mean mean that sites such as google will be able to find us via our meta tags. Even though we applied to many search engines, we seem to still be invisible, although these have been the free admisssions until the site is fully completed.

Thanks

Your duplicate submissions were deleted from the category, which is http://dmoz.org/Business/Construction_and_Maintenance/Commercial_Contractors . The site is still in the queue - one copy was left behind for review.

The queue for that category is very large - I would not hold my breath waiting to be listed any time soon. It is impossible to estimate the 'time period' for a listing (although I can tell you that expecting to be listed within a month of submitting to that category is really optimistic).

Hopefully, by the time the site gets reviewed, those areas you speak of won't be under construction anymore. We do not *generally* list sites that are under construction - I personally tend to list sites even if not all areas are completed, but there is enough unique content to warrant a listing.

I'll let someone else answer the last question.

Google uses our data, and while the jury is still out on it, generally sites listed in the ODP get a higher Google Page Rank. Also remember that there are hundreds of other sites using our data so these will all contribute to your link popularity. So, generally, if your site is reviewed and accepted, you can expect higher traffic and better search engine rankings. But it's not guaranteed .

A general note: the Business tree as a whole is in the midst of a massive reorganization. While local editors are trying to keep up with greens in their respective categories, some attention is being pulled away from general editing while we work on the details of restructuring. The final result should improve this portion of the directory immensely.
