I submited this site recently, but I have also submitted it about 4 times over the past two years with no success, so I am expecting it to be rejected.

The category was:
www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Humor/Archives
although, admittedly I have since noticed the "Email fowards" section of that category, which would be more suitable.

I am about to start a major re-working of the site (possibly removing the Flash, or adding original material) and would dearly like to know why the site was rejected in the past. I will also be removing one or two pieces which infringe copyright (these slipped through the net), but I would be surprised if the dmoz editor found them.

From November to december of 2002 it was checked three times by different editors who could not access the site (not reachable) and thatfor rejected. Bit difficult to review a site you cant see ;-)

Right now I cant spot a submission with that URL waiting in the given category - maybe you received a timeout or an errormessage when submitting, or you submitted somewhere else.

AFAICT, it *never* was rejected on grounds of its contents. The three times, the reviewing editor found that the site could not be reached (was submitted last to Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Recreation_and_Sports/Humour). It's not among the sites awaiting review in Recreation/Humor/Archives ATM. When you resubmit, I'd suggest you state clearly in the comments that the host is now functional, just in case <img src="/images/icons/smirk.gif" alt="" />

giz - yes. You were right after all (could have sworn I submitted it before May though, and it was pulled by the host in October). I'll be more patient next time.

I was one of those editors who couldn't get through to your site.

Recreation/Humor/Archives/Email_Forwards does seem to be a good match for your content, although it would need to be properly reviewed (if you resubmit it) which will probably take less than two weeks given the number of unreviewed sites in that area of the directory. That's quite a new subcategory, so it probably wasn't there when you subitted before.

Quite a lot of humor sites use Flash. It's customary for the editor to include a note to that effect in the description of the site.
