I submitted www.chemicon.com to the category http://dmoz.org/Business/Biotechnology_and_Pharmaceuticals/ on 12/06/02.

On 9/27/02, I had submitted the site to “Science | Instrument & Supplies | Biology Equipment & Supplies | Reagents & Kits”. That category did not have an editor, so I resubmitted to the above category.

Can you please give me the status of my submission?

Your site hasn't been reviewed yet. It's stitting toward the bottom of both queues - both of which are medium sized (around 100 sites).

Please be aware that you should not avoid submitting to categories without editors - you should always submit to the most specific category for your site. Any higher level editor can edit the categories lower down, along with the 250+ editors who can edit anywhere in the directory.

We simply cant. As stated in several other postings, the ODP is completely ran by volunteers and no limitation to the amount of work exists.

There has been no change in the status of your submission. With regard to your second question, editors are not obliged to deal with submissions in the order they are added, so to give you a rank in the queue would be meaningless, I'm afraid.

No change. Also, submitting where you _see_ an editor listed even if it isn't a great match for your site will probably delay listings even further.

Thanks. I know now that even if there isn't an editor, a site would be reviewed. When I first submitted and my site wasn't reviewed for a few months, I wrongly assumed that only the ones with editors would be reviewed and resubmitted to a new category.

Has my site been reviewed at all?

Nothing new to report yet. Why not apply to edit for a much smaller sub-category or one that is related?
