my listing has gone?

Hello...I am the owner of www.conference-coordinator.com , a company that I have run since 1996. I decided to try and attract an internet prescence and purchased the microsoft submit programmes etc with the prvision of submitting 3 urls to various directories and engines.. I optimised my home page and submitted it to dmoz and shortly afterwards was accepted in the directory... when i had completed another 2 urls i also submitted them as i presumed microsoft was advising me correctly and up till now has been working fine and i was getting accepted etc... however, now it seems as tho i have vanished from the listings and im concerned i have dropped because i have submitted it several times, even tho to different urls? I am trying to use proper methods and not spamming and things.. as i couldnt see my listings in dmoz, i have submitted one final time and as i say im worried it may do me even more harm.. could somebody please advise me on what has happened and what i should do to get listed correctly please? thanks...Maxine

Nice post, lots of information. Unfortunately you have included very little of what we need to help you. You need to go back and read the forum guidelines so you can properly format your request so you can get some help here. We will need URLs of all the sites plus clickable links to the category(s) they were listed in or submitted to. Any omission of that information will simply delay your requests so be sure to read the posting guidelines carefully.

sorry,was 4 www.conference-coordinator.com

sorry about that.. guess get in the habit of skim reading sometimes and its almost 3 am here ... ok, i had a few choices to submit to and i am sure that i submitted to the following

http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Event_Planning_and_Production/Planning_and_Management/

as for my further submittals, obviously if i wasnt supposed to submit then it doesnt matter about those.. im just interested in sorting out that home page of mine... but my urls for those would have been /why-us.html and /eventmanagement.html if that is of any use or help.... forgive my amateurish websense

According to our records, none of the URLs you mention have ever been accepted into the directory.

I found two submittals (one that you mentioned and one that you didn't) waiting in that category. I deleted one, and left the other for review.

It is not necessary to submit again. Just burn your copy of the Gospel According to Bill Z. ("Bub") Gates III. Bookmark this thread, and you can ask for another status anytime after a month has passed.

status of www.conference-coordinator.com

Hello..

I do hope you can be of assistance. I submitted my site www.conference-coordinator.com at least 6 months ago and altho i rank very highly with google and yahoo etc on my important terms I cannot find my site listed with your good selves. (altho it has been a while, I do believe i would have tried to enter it in http://dmoz.com/Business/Business_S...and_Production/ )

It is a respectable business site and i dont understand why it is taking so long to list me.. I once enquired on here several months ago and was told it was imminent to be looked at. Perhaps there was a problem that I am not aware of?

Any help and/or advise would be appreciated as I can only believe it would do my business good to be listed with you

Thanks

Yours kindly

OK, Maxine, let me try and spell it out for you.

One of the most important forum rules is that you only are supposed to start one discussion thread per URL. That keeps all of the discussions about a given website in one place.

To date, you have started three disucssion threads on this website. This makes us very unahppy.

Further, in the second discucssion thread you were specifically told two important things:

1: Return to your original thread, found by clicking here Please, once you get there, take a minute to bookmark it in your browser and then you will be able to easily find it.

2: You are not eligible for a status check until after October 8.

Please, please, please follow the forum rules. When you do not, it makes a lot more work for all of the volunteer editors.

Hope this helps put an end to the confusion.

Thank you in advance for your future cooperation.

was due to be looked at october 8th

Apparently the site in question was due to be looked at 8th october 2004, why it takes this long is difficult to understand.. I do appreciate the amount of work that has to be done but still think that over 6 months just to be looked at is a little over the top...

anyway, as regards this site, i still cant find it listed...... can you please give me a current update as to its status?

Thankyou v much :)

I'm afraid you have misunderstood - when a site is suggested for inclusion there is no due date by which it should be reviewed. The only thing we are able to give you under the rules of this forum is a status report. Your site is still waiting for review in the category you mentioned. It is not possible to estimate when it will be reviewed, I'm afraid, but if you haven't seen it listed in another 6 months' time, you are welcome back for another status request. If you choose to do so, please return to this thread rather than starting a new one. Thanks! (I'm merging your threads so we get all information in one place.)

You might want to take a look at the FAQ which is linked from the top of every page; it contains answers to many of the most common questions about the ODP and this forum. {moz}

thanks for nothing I guess.

Hmmm. well this is seeming a bit silly..

I did go back to the original thread as advised..

I was quoted ''2: You are not eligible for a status check until after October 8.'' by your good selves so I am just trying to follow up that.. now you just say to me check in another 6 months? are you serious? sounds a little like sarcasm.
That doesnt seem a very positive answer and if I was to use that type of reponse to our own clients im sure we wouldnt be in business very long. I will just hope that was an individual and not a reflection of a site who's original intentions was to benefit the general public.

Yours

Nobody was being sarcastic, you are not reading the FAQ, or you are just failing to understand what's going on here.

Try this: we are not running a listing service, but you are allowed to make suggestions of sites, and you are allowed to ask what happened to them every six months. There is no guarantee that any submitted site will ever be listed.

We are not running a business. We are not running a service for webmasters. If you continue to hold those beliefs, you will continue to be frustrated that we are not meeting your needs, because we are not in existence to meet your needs.

Maxine, once you receive your first status check, [which was given to you by hutcheson on 4-6-04] each of your next status requests must be spaced 6 months apart per this forum's guidelines. That is why you were asked to come back in October for your next status check. This is a rule for this forum and has nothing to do with when your site will be reviewed. Nea gave you that 6 month status check today 10-13-04, [which was it is still waiting to be reviewed] so now you have to wait another 6 months before asking here again. Keep checking the category to see if it is listed and if that occurs between now and next April, you will not have to return here for another status.

Just thanks Dogbrows.
Cant believe I have to wait another 4 or 5 months. They might as well said another 2 years from the beginning it seems as it will have been well over a year since posting, sighhh. Never mind........
much obliged

I see no change in status in your suggestion. Sorry not to have better news. :(

You may ask again in another 6 months.

(And, BTW, are you Maxine or Clive?)

Oh dear.. ok thanks

This is Clive. Maxine Tree is the owner of the company. She employs myself to help here with some of her internet problems (like getting listed in this directory) and general web marketing practices.

Has this listing even been looked at yet? Is it correctly submitted as I myself have not seen the actual proposal.

Regards

Clive Harris.
