Pardon my newbie french.

I have submitted repeatedly to:
Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Full Service: D
http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/D

And just recently to:
Top: Regional: North America: United States: Indiana: Localities: I: Indianapolis: Business and Economy: Internet: Web Design and Development
http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Indiana/Localities/I/Indianapolis/Business_and_Economy/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development

Am I doing something wrong or have I somehow offended the Editor with my flagrant use of black backgrounds on my Web site?

I am trying to list with this info:

Dan Finney - Indianapolis Web and Print Design

Indianapolis Web designer provides freelance Web design, e-commerce, hosting, control panel content management, database integration, intranet design, logo design, print and graphic design.

Thanks!

Your problem may be "repeatedly" suggesting the site. If and editor processes sites waiting for review by date, it is most likely "you" keep sending the site back to the bottom with each new suggestion.

It is waiting to be reviewed in both categories. Please don't resubmit the site. Patiently await for an editor to get to it.

PS Frankly, we don't care what the site looks like or its colors. As long as there is unique and appropriate content for the category and it's navigatible.

Thanks for the input Rugs. As I read more through this forum I had come to a similar conclusion.

PS Frankly, not much of a sense of humor eh? ;)

OK a month has gone by. How much patience does a guy have to have? How much longer until my site will show up?

You have to have a lot of patience, as do the editors who work on sites sent to Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/ in the various letters. This area is cluttered with slow loading sites whose designers think Flash is the best thing in the universe, and don't care that it will take three minutes to get to the content, spammy SEO's who spend many hours trying to lever their advantage, by making mirrors of the sites, and submitting them more than once, in order to try to fake out the editors. So it's a slow moving category, as the editors have to go through all these little obtacles.

And since everyone who has a computer thinks they are web designers, hundreds of sites get sent in.

Many sites even get suggested to the wrong categories, for example, sending to the totally wrong letter, or failing to read the site description, since the site owner could not be bothered spending the time to suggest his site correctly, yet expects the editor to spend the time reviewing it.

Why on earth anyone wants to get listed there is a mystery to me, you just end up being one of many hundreds of 'D" designers.

In the meantime you have been listed in http://dmoz.org:8080/Regional/North_America/United_States/Indiana/Localities/I/Indianapolis/Business_and_Economy/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/ - which in my opinion is more usefull.

[I have nothing to do with listing your site, as I do not edit in those categories]

Note that the Regional listing doesn't negatively impact the submission to the category in Computers (though presumably you already know this).

Thanks for adding that, yes, there is no reason, it will not eventually get into the Designers category, but judging from the large number of other sites suggested for that category, it may be a long time before that happens.

Actually I did not know this. When I go to dmoz.org and do a search for "dan finney" I get no results. Also, I do not see this result when I search for "finney" and sift through the 64 results. Nor do I see it as a result for searching "indianapolis web design" even after sifting through hundreds of results. Is there any way someone can find this listing without manually going through the categories to reach it?

You should be able to search and find Dan Finney, but you probably won't find it until the search index has been updated, since your site was added recently that has not happened yet. You will not be able to find "indianapolis web design", as it is not part of the description, the search feature does not contain anthing from your web site, unlike true search engines, ODP is a directory, not a full text search system.
