www.digibattery.co.uk

Hi, is there any news on this yet?:

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Photography/Digital/Accessories/www.digibattery.co.uk

I've noticed that I'm actually listed in the Polish language area of DMOZ, but I'm UK based and don't sell in Poland. <img src="/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

http://www.dmoz.pl/ca/332235/Shopping/Photography/Digital/Accessories/www.digibattery.co.uk

Given that I'm already in the directory, could one of the editalls or meta's make it available in the English part of the directory where it belongs?

A helpful meta suggested I might apply to edit this small, editor-less category if I declared my interest. I applied about three weeks ago and haven't received a yes or no for this either.

Kind regards

Nick

p.s. While I'm still able to edit my posting, and to satisfy my own curiosity, I'd be grateful for the official reason for my site being initially listed, and then dropped. It is full of information about NiMH technology (quoted elsewhere on the Net and in a forthcoming journal article), I'm an honest sole trader (no affiliates or any of that bunkum!), a Which? Webtrader, and the site is totally spam free (unlike, I'm sad to say, many of my competitors). My only other site is an educational one about Cepheid Variable Stars http://www.institute-of-brilliant-failures.com/index.htm

In fact, as I write this, I'm becoming more and more curious - why was my honest and informative site dropped!!

Kind regards, Nick

Dear All,

I posted in the (very) early hours of this morning: the response so far - a rapid telling off from an editor telling me I shouldn't have started a new thread; and then one from myself apologising for starting a new thread.

Have I made some terrible faux pas? - is there anyone out there?!!

Kind Regards

Nick

Don't worry, it's not the end of the world. Just keep the discussion to the one thread.

Would a meta please close this?

added: actually ignore that, since the other thread has been closed. Please keep discussions here.

Hi ,
I've explained and not sure what else to do. Now baffled by this experience.

Sorry, not supposed to be a 'telling off' at all. I'm sorry that you interpret it that way. Just included a link back to earlier discussions in the previous thread you started, so that any reviewing editor would have all the facts that you have provided. It can now be seen that your enquiry has a previous history. It's sunday, and in some countries a public holiday tomorrow, so Resource Zone is a little on the quiet side. I'm sure that an editor in reach of your submission will be along sooner rather then later. There's a big reorganisation going on in one Top level cat at the moment, and that is keeping quite a few people occupied, as well as slowing things down for the rest of us.

I do not edit anywhere near the categories that you submitted to. I can see that your submission was moved a few days ago to: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Consumer_Electronics/Batteries as you only ship within the UK, and your batteries are not specific to digital cameras. I cannot see the unreviewed queue, so I have absolutely no idea how big it is. You are not listed in any other section of the directory as far as I can see from the notes; however some of the notes were lost from several sites beginning with "www.d..." about a month or so ago, so I may not be seeing the full picture.

As for your editor application, I would post in the "Becoming an Editor" forum, re-bumping an earlier thread if there is a suitable one there, or if you have already asked before. It might also be a good idea to place a link there back to this thread, and vice versa. This helps people quickly get all the facts.

Thank you, and fair enough. I'm also far from impressed with totalxsive's dismissive response. I thought the highest standards were required in communications from editors. Especially from editalls.

My experience on these boards today has not been a positive one, and has left a very poor impression indeed.

Nick,

I don't see anything dismissive in totalxsive's response. He was stating "don't worry about it" <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

has a very small amount of "unreviewed" so it will be a matter of an editor with privileges in that area to go in and review the sites. Not saying that your site will be listed, just stating the amount of unreviewed sites waiting.

Thanks. I'm still curious about my editor application -would you like me to post this in the appropriate forum?

Nick,

You may post in that area although I am at the bottom of the totem-pole so-to-speak and will not be able to help you <img src="/images/icons/blush.gif" alt="" />

I am not sure if you will receive a direct response but there is a lot of useful information contained in that area <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

For other submitters thinking that asking in these fora may be a quick way to 'jump the queue', please note that the reviewing editor here would have reviewed all of the sites in that category, not just the one being enquired about; and may very well have spent several hours or more doing this work. In this case I have been told via internal communication that there were very few sites waiting for review.

I entirely agree with that and generally avoid helping would be queue jumpers individually.

In this case though, a straight forward submission to the wrong cat took months to reach the right one's unrevs, where I found it sitting alongside a very recent duplicate submission and a few others.

..and yes, I did clear the rest of the queue <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />.

Thanks to you all - you've been very patient with me.

I echo the sentiments about jumping the queue - this isn't the case. I was originally in, then out for some reason, then moved, and after much discussion, and thanks to the flexibility of the editors, it looks like I'm finally back in again.

Kindest regards

Nick

The dump there appears to be from May judging from some cats I'm familiar with.
