Please make a submission to that category, and put a note in the description to the effect that you apologize for the multiple submissions, but that you believe that this is the most appropriate category for the site. That should hopefully head-off deletions by our semi-automatic duplicate-finding tools.

Just to be clear--I recently did make a submission to that category (not realizing that we'd submitted earlier). Do you think I should make another submission (with a note)? Sorry, I just want to be totally clear on the right way to do this.

The submission to the category you named got deleted because there was a second one somewhere - when an editor sees more than one submission in more than one category it is editor's choice which one gets blown away - sometimes it might not be the right one.

So yes, we are asking you to resubmit with a note in the description to the effect that they should keep THIS one if they find a duplicate submission somewhere else. That should maximise your chances of an editor actuallyt reviewing it in the category you feel is most appropriate.
