I've just finished making my site - it's all about matching food and wine: http://www.french-grapes.net/

I've browsed around the various categories, and it seems to me the best fit might be in http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Food/ as the site is primarily about matching food *and* wine, and isn't just about wine (which presumably would be suited to http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Food/Drink/Wine/ ). Does this sounds like the best category to apply to?

I'd be grateful for any opinions from those a bit more experienced in this... :)

If I would be editing the Food-Category, I would pass it on to the wine-category. In my eyes its primarily focussed on Wines and grapes.

Thanks for your comment Windharp, that's exactly what I was wondering about....

I'm planning to add recipe suggestions to my site, with each recipe featuring descriptions of what wine(s) would go well with the meal.

To show the kind of thing I'm talking about, I've added six new pages here http://www.french-grapes.net/recipes.html - these are more about food than the 'grape' pages - so does this affect your initial assessment, or would I still be better to apply to the Wines subcategory?

Thanks,

One fact you might want to take into consideration is that we don't evaluate sites based on future content.

If you're planning to change your site in a way that makes it more fitting for the food category, you may want to make the changes before you select the category.

After reading the suggestions in this thread (thanks for the suggestions!), I submitted my site http://www.french-grapes.net/ to http://www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Food/Drink/Wine/ about a month ago. When I submitted, I got an message about my ip address saying that my site would have to be manually verified, but that that shouldn't cause a problem with the listing.

Could anyone confirm if there's is still a problem with the submission? Sorry if this is now off-topic in this forum, I didn't know whether or not to start a new thread over in Site Submission Status

Thanks,

There isn't a problem with the submission, that's why the error message told you there wasn't a problem...

Your site will be given slightly more scrutinisation because the suggestion script couldn't determine your IP address (it's basically to trap spam but it also traps some non-spam).

By the way, there are some serious rendering issues with your site in Mozilla - images overlapping text, sideways scrolling etc. You might want to to fix them.

OK, thanks for the info. Regarding the submission, I suppose I should ask again in a month or three?

BTW, thanks for pointing out the rendering problems... the pages should now be fixed. The page and css validated OK, but something about floating a div to the right and expecting it to expand to fit the image inside it was causing the problem. { width=400px } seems to have sorted that out.

Cheers,

C.Duncan
