I posted a thread asking about the status of my site 3 days ago and I haven't got a response yet. How long does it normally take to find out the status? I've looked at some of the other threads and theirs are usually answered within hours of being posted. I just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong? Thanks in advance. :)

Can someone please reply to my post? I posted a thread asking about the status of my site 6 days ago and I haven't gotten a response yet. I followed the rules in which you're supposed to ask about site submissions. Can and editor please respond?

Well first of all, howcome you submitted this site so many times?
Second of all, from what i can see, your site was rejected for the following categories:

Shopping/Clothing/Women's/Motherhood/Maternity
Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Clothing/Women's/Maternity_Wear

I don't have any information for you on that 3rd category but im sure a meta will be able to clearify my reply a little better.

There have been, um, quite a few more than the permitted two submittals received. The usual course of events is that each one gets moved to Shopping/Clothing/Women's/Motherhood/Maternity , (which is obviously the least-poorly-fitting category), where it gets rejected for insufficient content. (I saw nothing on the site that would lead me to believe that isn't the appropriate fate for them.) There is, however, still at least one bouncing submittal remaining unwhacked. But each superfluous submittal only builds a reputation for inappropriate submittals that eventually adds up to "we don't need to bother with this site any more this millenium; it has been reviewed to our full satisfaction."

Conclusion: there is no realistic reason to expect a listing, and even if there were, there would be no reason to submit again.

You people are a bunch of power-hungry geeks. First off, I submitted to the categories that best suited my site. I didn't realize there was a limit to submittals. Second, "Shopping/Clothing/Women's/Motherhood/Maternity , (which is obviously the least-poorly-fitting category), where it gets rejected for insufficient content." - IT'S A MATERNITY CLOTHING STORE!!!!!!FOR WOMEN!!!!WHO SHOP!!!!!!! How could this be an inappropriate category?

You should submit to the one most appropriate category under the realm of shopping.

For instance, you submitted it multiple times to:
Shopping/Health/Reproduction_and_Sexuality/Pregnancy_and_Birth
which is not for clothing, so it cannot be listed there and it just makes work for others to continue to delete it.

Shopping/Children/Baby/Equipment/Carriers - Since your site is not a all specific to this topic, this is not a good place to submit to. I don't actually see any carriers at the moment but there may be some.

Shopping sites can't be listed in Business, that is for manufacturers and such.

IT'S A MATERNITY CLOTHING STORE!!!!!!FOR WOMEN!!!!WHO SHOP!!!!!!! How could this be an inappropriate category?

I don't see where anyone said it wasn't appropriate. To be listed, however, a site must offer unique content. If other sites already offer that same content, it would not be unique. Unfortunately, getting upset because you've not gotten the answer you want is something that is beyond our control...but calling others names isn't exactly helpful either. The official status of your site is "Denied, and not likely to be listed" at this time.

Using insulting language really does not help.

I didn't realize there was a limit to submittals

All submitters are asked to read a page of text as part of the submittal process.

Each submittal page says

Please take a moment to review some of our submission policies and instructions. It is important that you understand these policies. Failure to understand and follow these policies generally will result in the rejection of a submission.

That links to this page http://dmoz.org/add.html

and that page says

Identify the single best category for your site. The Open Directory has an enormous array of subjects to choose from. You should submit a site to the single most relevant category. Sites submitted to inappropriate or unrelated categories may be rejected or removed.

Please only submit a URL to the Open Directory once. Again, multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.

kokopeli, "I don't see where anyone said it wasn't appropriate."

hutcheson said "Shopping/Clothing/Women's/Motherhood/Maternity , (which is obviously the least-poorly-fitting category)" so that's where that came from.

"To be listed, however, a site must offer unique content. If other sites already offer that same content, it would not be unique." There are currently 124 sites in the Shopping/Clothing/Women's/Motherhood/Maternity category. They all sell maternity clothing. So maybe the first one was unique but what about the next 123?

Look, I understand you guys have your rules probably hate the newbies that come in and just submit. I'm just a guy trying to get my site to be successful so that I can provide for my family. It took six days for "hutcheson" to give me some cocky reply and it got my blood boiling.

kokopeli - I do thank you for actually taking the time and actually doing some sort of research instead of giving me an attitude. (hutcheson" we don't need to bother with this site any more this millenium; it has been reviewed to our full satisfaction).
