I submitted a change request for our site which is in the
Top: Computers: Hardware: Peripherals: Switching Devices
category on 24th Oct 2002. I would like to know the status of the request.
Our core business has changed significantly since the original entry in the directory and hence the need for the description to be changed.

Part of your update request was included in the site description a couple of hours ago. Since I can't see what you submitted, I'll have to guess that the editor responsible trimmed promotional hype from what you submitted to create a guidelines compliant description.

Thank you - its good to see the new description. In fact my request did not include any attempt at using marketing phrases and I am quite happy with the description.
I have a couple of questions though :
(1) If I look at the category our website is in, I see the new description but if I search by company name, the old description is displayed. Is there a a time lag before the new descriptions are picked up
(2) The description contains the phrase "server cabinets" yet a search on "server cabinets" does not show our site. Is this related to (1)?

You happen to have hit a patch where the search index update is being delayed, but the technical issues seem to have been fixed and we expect to see another update with a week.
