www.maidenwell.com

Hello,

I submitted to the following category nearly 3 months ago and the site is still not listed. I am new to the dmoz site submission process and I think I may have broken the spam rule by trying to submit it too many times. I know it is my fault but could someone please check it out for me thanks.

/Business/Agriculture_and_Forestry/Agricultural_Chemicals/Fertilizers/

Any info greatly appreciated,

Your site is sitting in review for that category with less than a 100 other sites.

Thanks for your prompt reply. That is good to know that it hasn't been excluded or banned from your site.

How often should I check on the submission. Will someone let me know when or if it has been accepted?

Thanks heaps.

It's probably best to wait a couple of months before checking on your submission again. No one will let you know if it's been accepted or declined, unless you ask in this forum.

Thanks again. Sorry to annoy you but I have one more question. We have submitted the site to Google using their free submit process into exactly the same category. When we do this are we just submitting it to dmoz? Or is it a seperate process that looks identical to dmoz? Does Google have their own submission editors.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Give it at least a month before enquiring again, there is no way of knowing when an editor is next going to work in that category.

No. There is no automated accept/reject notification, and editors are not required to contact submitters. Most won't because of past problems caused by angry rejectees - sometimes to the point of DNS attacks on the editors personal site, and character assasination in other fora. (Doesn't happen often, but why take the chance?)

As your site displays a local address, I'd suggest submitting to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Queensland/Localities/C/Carina/ in addition to waiting for your current submission to be reviewed. You can be listed in the Regional branch in addition to a Topical listing (by subject) as your business has a physical prescence.

regional *tends* to be maintained more and there is much less spam in localities, meaning listings there may be processed quicker.

Good Luck

If you were submitting to the Google Web directory, then you were also submitting to DMOZ as Google uses our data. Google does (IIRC) also have a form for submitting to their search index, which is separate and does not affect the DMOZ listing.
