Hello Dmoz Team,

I appologize for not learning about the forums sooner. I discovered this through another forum.

I submitted my site two - or more times over the past year to the category:
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Classifieds/
http://www.mjmls.com

I have not heard any response regarding the status of the submission.

Could someone please provide some help in the matter?

Michael J Medeiros

P.S.
I realize that I posted this to the wrong section. Should I post in the shopping section, or will it be relocated?

Your suggestion has been received and is awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months, please ask again in this same thread.

LOL. I just came back from that thread. It got pretty interesting to say the least.

Yeah you're right there Jim. That would be far more disapointing.

I guess this answers my question in the Dmoz forum, if the editors interact through here.

I was just peaking in to check if had been reviewed for inclusion.

What did you think of some of the suggestions there?
Become an Editor, submitt to a more active category, editors don't look at suggestions, etc...

That post started a heated discussion. I was shocked to see it was two pages long now.

I guess I will check back soon.

Still in the Que? or did someone burn the suggestion yet:)

DMoz Suggestion - a directory of places to promote a Website... Directories webies can post their Websites.

What's the deal with becoming an editor. I got turned down some time back :( . Is that because site is in que or someone thought I was an idiot?

I see a lot of things on the web about dmoz being short staffed. Didn't understand why such a wonderful person as such got shot down.... Killed my self esteem and shattered my self-image.

Ooops... Only been four months... I guess i'm not the first and wont be the last. No option to delete the post.

Quite possibly neither. What probably matters most is the inner drive: "I don't care whether you accept me as an editor or not: I WILL still somehow -- on my own or cooperating with others, it doesn't matter! -- be working somehow on incrementing the sum of human knowledge on the internet."

>I see a lot of things on the web about dmoz being short staffed.

Only from a demand-side point of view -- which is, however a point of view that we don't recognize even if we cared about that particular demand (which we don't). From a supply-side vantage point, it's always fully staffed.

>Didn't understand why such a wonderful person as such got shot down.... Killed my self esteem and shattered my self-image.

Ah, good. Now you can start trying to make something worthwhile of yourself.

We're not looking for personalities -- if you can work with people towards a common goal, that's enough. We're not looking for people who are "satisfied with themselves" (that is, have high self-esteem). We're looking for people with high aspirations and a willingness to learn something in order to pursue them.

"I may be an idiot, but I can tell the difference between bifurcated and crennellated widgets... and I can spall or use a spill chequer; my grammer is alive and well and still correcting my grammar...."

It's a different mindset. Not "I am" but "I can do; I have done; I will learn how to do."
