Hello,
I submited http://www.thehipdoc.com to http://dmoz.org/Health/Medicine/Surgery/Orthopedics/Surgeons_and_Clinics/ a long time ago.

The editor of the catagory told me he had moved it to this catagory
http://dmoz.org/Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Musculoskeletal_Disorders/

Could someone please tell me the status of http://www.thehipdoc.com In http://dmoz.org/Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Musculoskeletal_Disorders/ and any idea of how long it may take to get listed?

Thank you all very much for the time and effort you put into helping us all out.

Obviously your idea of a "long time" and ODP's idea of a "long time" are slightly different.

Earliest submission date is 27 June. Currently waiting in mentioned cat. Please be patient?

>>>any idea of how long it may take to get listed?<<<

Could be minutes, days, weeks, months, years, or never. Totally depends on when an editor gets to it.

it was sent to another catagory roughly a year and a half ago, took over a year to be sent to the clincs catagory (it is a medical clinic) and then was moved to another catagory by the editor of the clinic cat. Im not sure why it was moved, it is a "medical clinic"........

Any way to check if the editor for the cat has been active recently?

Thank you very much Raggedyrugs, i appreciate you taking the time to look into things for me

Sorry, my mistake. Took another look at the date and it was 27 June "2002".

There is no way to tell if an editor has been active in a particular category, only if he/she has been active. In this case, yes, but where?

Have you submitted to the Regional/ category for the location of your office? It would be http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Illinois/Localities/G/Glenview/Health .

Chances are that it would be listed there faster without the long wait. Having a listing in Regional will not affect the one currently waiting in Topical.

raggedyrugs-
Thank you very much for looking into this and giving me proper guidance.

I was unsure about submiting my site to another cat, don't want to "spam" the ODP

Again, i appreciate you looking into this very much.

Take Care

If it is a medical clinic as you say, why does the site say this on its front page?

Although this site is sponsored by Dr. James C. Kudrna and the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, the purpose is strictly educational and relates to the many aspects of total hip replacement and revision surgery. In no way is this site meant to sell or solicit to total joint replacement patients in any way. These pages provide much information regarding hip replacement and orthopedic surgery, however it is encouraged that you always contact your orthopedic surgeon to further answer your questions.

Based on the information on your site, I agree with the editor who moved it to Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Musculoskeletal_Disorders/ that it's an educational site, not a clinic. It has now been listed in that category, although you may have to wait a little time for the public pages to update before you see it in the list of sites. :)

Hello John,
About ages ago while talking to the Zeal editor who rejected my site a repeated number of times, he told me that the site has the look and feel of a medical practice site. I just took his reccomendation when i submitted to DMOZ that i should try to get listed as a medical practice, not a information site.

I just tried to avoid wasting the time of editors at the ODP by placing it in a catagory that i think it would fit best in, and avoiding the need to have it moved from one cat. to the other.

I am delighted to see your take on the site as an educational site, not a clinic, as that was the main purpose of the site, but mr. zeal didn't see it that way.

Thank you all who looked into this for me.
:p

(I understand this isn't a "zeal" forum but wanted to expalin my reasoning for thinking it should be a medical clinic)
