As far as I can see it is still Unreviewed in Shopping/Weddings/Keepsakes/ . I don't edit anywhere near Shopping/ cats.


Hmm. It wasn't appropriate to also submit it to three other categories over the last three months. Those duplicate submissions have all been deleted, requiring the work of three different editors to reach into those cats. Please do not resubmit: one unreviewed is in the queue. This amount of submissions stands on the edge of being labelled a spammer.

I was afraid it may appear like spamming. I am happy to have found a board where I can actually talk to a real live person - thanks for your response!

I submitted to two categories because I sell four different products and they belong in different categories. Any suggestions on how to do that without appearing like a spammer?

Wsg, I see you've submitted multiple times, including several deeplinks. Deeplinking sites (website.com/subpage.html) is an exception, and a fairly rare one at that - especially in Shopping. Even though you sell multiple products, they still pretty much fall under the "Keepsakes" heading. A savvy editor will work _a few_ product keywords into the description.

I've deleted the duplicate submissions, and forwarded one copy to the respective Carlsbad category in Regional for their consideration. I also kept one copy in the Wed/Keepsakes cat. Shop/Weddings is backlogged in submissions, so your site may be reviewed faster in Regional.

BTW, your "Contact Us" page 404s.

Marissa, would it be helpful to send an email to an editor about my submission? I don't want to be a pest but I am the only store online selling the ceramic guest book platter and I think brides would appreciate a link under keepsakes.

One other reminder: websites are not guaranteed a listing in ODP. The decision is made by the editor who reviews the site.

Give it some more time. There's a large number of editors in California, /images/icons/smile.gif but then there's a higher quantity of submissions to deal with there too (it's the state with the biggest number of sites). Check Carlsbad's Shopping category in 2-4 weeks (don't just do a search), and then go from there.

Just wanted to thank you for the good advice and let you know that I was listed in the regional category just 12 short hours after it was submitted. Yippee!

Can anyone tell me how many sites are awaiting review in the Shopping>>Weddings>>Keepsakes category?

I have been waiting patiently for a listing in the http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Weddings/Keepsakes/ category. Looks like this category doesn't get edited very often. Would any editor be kind enough to either:

1) Check if I have been denied for this category
2) Suggest another category that my site http://www.WeddingShowerGifts.com might fall under?

We sell flower girl baskets, ring pillows and guestbooks in addition to our watercolor wedding paintings.

I'm afraid - there's nothing new about your submission. If has not been denied; it is still waiting in the queue. There certainly is a lack of editors in this part of the directory.

I can't think of a category where your site would fit better. Shopping/Wedding/Keepsakes seems really good. The only problem is ... well, see above. <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Quick question: we are re-launching the site later this week with new product lines - bridal accessories like bags, hair clips and garters. Would it be bad to apply to another category such as http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Weddings/Accessories/ or http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Clothing/Formal_Wear/Women%27s/Bridal/Accessories/? Will it appear as if I am spamming by having multiple submissions? Are those categories back-logged as well?

I spend a great deal of time on wedding related forums just getting an idea of what brides want and what's out there, etc. The most frustrating thing in the world for me is when they can't find the products we sell. We are the only site I know of that provides custom watercolors, guestbook platters and custom-sewn ring pillows and baskets. I spend hours each week writing original content for the site. I just can't seem to make it in the directory...

I know the shopping categories are back-logged and thick with spammy yuckiness, but please editors - there are some good sites out there that could really use a listing. And a lot of shoppers that would love to find them.

I just check Shopping&gt;Weddings&gt;Keepsakes and it looks like it was edited on the 20th of November. I didn't make the cut <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Can someone please look in there and see if I was rejected from that category or if I am still in cue?
