Christiansuk Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 We submitted http://www.ChristiansUK.com back on 25/11/2003 and have not been listed (to my knowledge) so far. The site should be in : http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Christian/ Thanks For you help. Regards, Richard Lloyd
Alucard Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Richard, your original submission was declined by a reviewing editor. It appears that you, or someone else, has resubnitted the site on 19/Feb/2004 and it awaits review.
Christiansuk Posted March 11, 2004 Author Posted March 11, 2004 Re: Status of ChristiansUK Richard, your original submission was declined by a reviewing editor. It appears that you, or someone else, has resubnitted the site on 19/Feb/2004 and it awaits review. Are you saying it was declined because it was re-submitted or that it was declined and then we submitted and it is now being re-reviewed. I thought nearly 3 months waiting was an OK time to re-submit without being regarded as a spammer . I think its also fair to say that I have only just found this forum and would have followed the submission here had I known. Anyway, Thanks for your help. Regards, Richard Lloyd

Christiansuk Posted March 11, 2004 Author Posted March 11, 2004 ChristiansUK.com status You resubmitted after it was rejected. Can you tell me why it was rejected and what we can do about getting it approved now it is being re-looked at? I wouldn't want it to be rejected again if it was something easy to fix. Regards, Richard
Meta johncotton Posted March 11, 2004 Meta Posted March 11, 2004 Can you tell me why it was rejected Nope, that would breach our confidentiality guidelines but I will say that sites like this one are tricky to review. Most of the content is presumably behind an apparently free membership. To review it the editor would need to supply a truckload of personal information and an email address, which I suggest is a bit much to expect. You could resubmit the site with a temporary login/password mentioned in the description so the editor can review it. No guarantees but it might help.

Ok, then perhaps if the person who is reviewing our site could email me via richlloyd1 at ntlworld.com (trying to avoid spam at that address) I will send them a temporary UserName and Password for the site and they can have a look around without having to register. If this is an OK solution please let me know. If not then the next best thing would be for them to register themselves (process takes no more than 5 minutes) and then they can take themselves off the site easily enough afterwards by going into the registration area and clicking on Leave then entering their Username and password again. jimnoble Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Editors pick up a submission from the pile, look at it, maybe process it, and then move on. This editor for one wouldn't bother to get into a protracted email dialogue or spend an extra 5 minutes on your submission that could be more profitably spent on somebody else's. johncotton's suggestion is a good one in that it is no more hassle for you (since you'll create the temporary account anyway), no hassle for us and more likely to bear fruit. I strongly suggest that you follow it.

I was just a bit wary of re-submissions principly because it said somewhere that you are aware of people trying to spam the system. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for them to look around the site and see whats on offer. Thanks for all the suggestions. I will set this up this afternoon and re-submit this today. I'll then query the progress next week. I will need some idea of a time-frame soon after though as I can't keep the dummy account open for too long. Thanks everyone, Regards, Richard Lloyd
Christiansuk Posted March 11, 2004 Author Posted March 11, 2004 I have just re-submitted the site with the following description: "Personal ads for Christians in the UK looking for matchmaking, dating, friendships and penpals. Includes photo and video profiles, discussion boards, events listing." I then added: ---- Temporary Username: password If the reviewer needs a login url it is http://www.christiansuk.com/cuk/loginform.asp (This was too long to fit into the form) They can also click on "Members area" in the menu. on the left. I hope this will be enogh information for them to have a look around. If they have any problems please ask them to post something here. Regards, Richard Lloyd
leer Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 For your own benefit you may like to edit the above post and remove the login details from public view. The reviewing editor will see them in the description so they do not need to be visible here. It is up to you
Christiansuk Posted March 11, 2004 Author Posted March 11, 2004 No Probs For your own benefit you may like to edit the above post and remove the login details from public view. The reviewing editor will see them in the description so they do not need to be visible here. It is up to you Thanks, Just wanted to make sure that I was doing things correctly. Not too worried about it really though as I can ban people very quickly from my site without any harm done. Thanks, Richard 1
jimnoble Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I'll then query the progress next week. You did mean to type 'next month' didn't you ?
Christiansuk Posted April 26, 2004 Author Posted April 26, 2004 Hi, I'm just checking the progress of http://www.ChristiansUK.com. I have left this at least a month now from when I re-submitted it. Is anyone able to tell me what the situation is. Regards, Richard Lloyd
Christiansuk Posted July 8, 2004 Author Posted July 8, 2004 Can anyone tell me if ChristiansUK.com has been approved now by the editors. I have just searched http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Christian/ and we still don't appear to be there. We are a rapidly growing site but it would be nice if we could be wider known. I gave a login and password when I re-registered but to my knowledge no-one has used it. Regards, Richard Lloyd
sole Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Thanks for providing the password. It will help us to review the site. I gave a login and password when I re-registered but to my knowledge no-one has used it. So you know we're not abusing the password. However, because all the editing is done by volunteers, and we can't tell you when someone will get to your site. All I can tell you is that it is in the queue ready to be reviewed.
Christiansuk Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 Dear all, can anyone tell me if our site has now been reviewed. I've left it a year before enquiring again. I have been using adwords and our site is now firmly established as one of the main Christian dating sites serving the UK exclusively. I felt that the whole process of getting listed on DMoz was going too slow so I gave up enquiring. Regards, Richard Lloyd ChristiansUK.com
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted April 12, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted April 12, 2005 I see no change in status in your suggestion since the last report. Sorry not to have better news. You may ask again in this thread in another 6 months. Thanks for your patience.
