Unable to log in to DMOZ

Hi all,

I am a newbie editor at DMOZ. Ever since this today morning (GMT + 5 and 1/2 Hrs) I have unable to log into the editor dashboard. The link provided at the DMOZ front page repeatedly asks for username and password, which I supplied correctly to no effect.

Thinking that I could have mistyped, I got the password again through mail. Still no luck. Is this a local problem?

By the way, my PC is sitting behind a corporate firewall.

Thanks,

Manoj

The editor side of ODP is currently unavailable - and hence any editor that attempts to login will receive the "Login incorrect" page (eventually).

It should be fixed within a few hours though. It is also advisable for you to post in the editor member title? thread so that you can be elevated to the 'editor' status on this forum. This will give you access to the 'Editor hangout' where alerts+notifications like this are posted.

That's correct -- the editor side of dmoz is not working. Since egmanoj is not yet listed here as an editor, he cannot access the editor-only forum here, so this thread is serving a useful purpose.

There probably are other editors here who are still listed only as "member." To change this situation, notify one of the forum administrators by posting in the thread noted in the previous post. They probably will not want to update your status until dmoz is working again, so they can verify your status as an editor.

Hi egmanoj,

AFAIK, you are not the only one (and by the way: I'm glad to see that I'm not that stupid as I thought).

The Problems mentioned in here and here seem to be similar to what I experience as well right now.

Nevertheless, I have no information on the causes, the workarounds or any kind of solution. Since I'm new to dmoz, it might be just right to wait for some hours.

The latest word from staff is that the edit side of the directory will be back "up" again some time tomorrow.

The public side was working the last time I checked.

It was fixed with a temporary workaround, about half an hour ago, but will be off again this Saturday all day (PST Time Zone ~ approx [uTC-0800]).

It still looks down at this time. This morning it was up.

Hi,

I'm a newbie ODP editor, located in the UK. For the last half hour (since 21:30 GMT) I've been getting timeouts on the editor side. (Public ODP is OK.)

Is anyone else having this problem?

Regards,

Nick

Yes, it seems to be the same for every editor. From what I read in another thread, staff is fixing things at this very moment. The public side http://dmoz.org/ is down as well at this moment, but its mirror http://ch.dmoz.org/ is fully operational.

Hope it won't be too long

tuisp, it isn't working currently for me. 5:09 PM Central Time. I can't even get the main page at http://dmoz.org/

OTOH, if it fixes things for it to be down for a while, then this is *good*.

You're right dollsntoys, the public side works for me at times and not at others (although the editor side never worked for the last hour). I fully agree with you - if we have to wait for a few hours in order to get a better-functioning system, I'll have all the patience in the world

Not your fault, it's down at this moment. The mirror http://ch.dmoz.org/ works, but you won't be able to submit from there at this moment, since it goes to the main site for that
