u2moo Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Could someone please tell me how my listing on Dmoz is going?

u2moo Posted March 16, 2004 Author Posted March 16, 2004 No, please provide a clickable link to the dmoz.org category you submitted to as per the forum guidelines. Thanks Sorry! I submitted to http://dmoz.org/Business/Transportation_and_Logistics/Aviation/Education_and_Training/Pilot/Fixed_Wing/ Is this all you require or do I need to provide further info? Sorry I am new to this!
Meta nea Posted March 17, 2004 Meta Posted March 17, 2004 Your site is listed in http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Aviation/Pilots/Instruction_and_Aircraft_Rental/Fixed_Wing/Oceania/Australia/Victoria/ Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
u2moo Posted June 6, 2004 Author Posted June 6, 2004 Not Under this Category I have done a search on learntofly.net.au and it has found my URL and it displays the following category: Regional: Oceania: Australia: Victoria: Recreation and Sports: Aviation: Training Schools My site isn't displayed under this category. Can someone please look into and fix this problem so I can make an update to the site listing? Thanks
donwiebe Posted June 6, 2004 Posted June 6, 2004 Your site isn't displayed there, because it has been moved to http://dmoz.org/Business/Transportation_and_Logistics/Aviation/Education_and_Training/Pilot/Fixed_Wing/ .
u2moo Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 Why isn't this reflected when I do a search on the domain name? It still comes up with the old category listing.
donwiebe Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 The search database isn't necessarily kept up to date. It's updated roughly once a week. Since the search function on dmoz.org is used almost exclusively by editors and submitters, keeping it current isn't necessarily as important as other tasks. You can see the last time the database was updated by looking at the date at the bottom of the search results page (http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search).
u2moo Posted June 25, 2004 Author Posted June 25, 2004 Updating the database I placed a submission months ago to have the category changed. It was changed relatively quickly but I would expect that the search would have been updated to reflect the change by now. Could this be investigated please?
bobrat Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 There is nothing to investigate. The search computer is not always up to date, that;s just the way it works [or doesn't work]
u2moo Posted June 30, 2004 Author Posted June 30, 2004 Updating the database I have investigated this a little bit further. Originally I made a listing for my site Titled 'learntofly.net.au' I then made a change to the description and Title (to 'Learn To Fly') and category to try and increase my chances of people hitting my site through a Google search. When I do a search in DMOZ I find both titles listed. I thought that the first one would have been removed. Is this an issue of the search not updating or does the orignal listing still need to be removed? Google is only picking up this original listing. Thanks!
Meta hutcheson Posted June 30, 2004 Meta Posted June 30, 2004 No, this isn't an issue yet. Give it a month and try dmoz.org and Google searches again.
