wunnerin Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 Hi all! Submitted back in Nov 03 - http://dating-services-matchmaking-sites.com/ to: http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Directories/ Pretty sure it's the correct Catagory. I also have totally free personals, perhaps it was moved? That Catagory now has two editors, and only 25 sites? When I submitted I think there was at least 28-30 sites all together. I read in another forum that the main editor (the one that has all the subcats) is also a site owner and keeps a tight grip on the competition. Typical conspiracy theory, as it were. Please tell me that's not the case. Quick question, doesn't an editor that is high in the ranks, for example: http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/ have edit control with all the catagories under the above? Just curious as the editor has the above, and many sublinks as well. Wouldn't that keep other possible editors from applying thinking that those catagories are handled, when in fact it's actually one person spreading him/herself very thin? Just a bit puzzled is all. And hey, thanks to the troopers who take the time to help us lost web souls! Have a great day! Kell
wunnerin Posted April 7, 2004 Author Posted April 7, 2004 Any other dmoz forum sites? Where editors might be able to help? Thanks in advance, Kelly
thehelper Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 Editors higher up in the directory tree from the category can also edit in the category as well as hundreds of other editall editors who can edit in the entire directory. If you suspect editorial abuse there is a public mechanism for reporting and you can access that here http://report-abuse.dmoz.org/ If you are asking about the status of your submission - the suggestion was declined. wunnerin Posted April 8, 2004 Author Posted April 8, 2004 Thanks for the help... Staying true to your name, Mister helper. I thank you for your time in checking, and responding. It's very much appreciated. I will use the link you provided because I've found several forums and newsgroups with the same consensus. Such as: http://www.geocities.com/matchfraud/dmoz-editor-scam.html Apparantly from an ex-editor of the same category. Makes the "declined" decision a little easier to take. I can see how you get swamped so thanks again for your help. You're a star!
