What is nutch.com?

I’m a new member DMOZ forum, so excuse me if I make a few mistakes!!

 

I’ve been reading a lot about a new Search Engine project called “ Nutch” website: http://www.nutch.org.

 

1 Can any one tell me what it is?

2 Is it going to be another Open Directory Project?

3 It talks about P2P, is it going to work as a P2P search engine?

4 Is there room for yet another Search Engine?

 

Anyone with further information I would appreciate.

This sounds like a topic that http://webmasterworld.com/ or http://jimworld.com/ and so on, might discuss though.

Added: And nutch.com has nothing to do with nutch.org, it's just somebody who grabbed the name hoping to get something from it, compare http://whois.sc/nutch.com and http://www.whois.sc/nutch.org

Nutch ia a very powerful open source search engine.

Not to be confused with nutch.com which is totally useless and returns totally off topic matches for searches.

 

On the other end nutch.org does not actually seem to do anything yet.
