joelrhome Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 HI, I have a problem. I would like to apologize for my ignorance in not reading all of the rules for submission. I built heavydutystore.com for a company that had a previous website at cookironstore.com( which was already listed in your directory. After completion of the site, BJ from heavydutystore.com submitted the new domain to you. we linked their old domain(cookironstore.com) to the same site when heavydutystore.com was completed. Without knowing that he submitted it, I did, and then later found out that he already did it. The bottom line is this... Can we start over and remove cookironstore.com from your directory and add heavydutystore.com to Shopping: Tools ? That is really our goal. And again, I apologize for my ignorance as I am still learning. cookironstore.com is in this category: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_York/Localities/R/Rochester/Business_and_Economy/Construction_and_Maintenance/Materials_and_Supplies/ we are hoping to get heavydutystore.com listed in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Tools/ Thanks
joelrhome Posted April 2, 2004 Author Posted April 2, 2004 I forgot the URLs cookironstore.com is in this category: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_York/Localities/R/Rochester/Business_and_Economy/Construction_and_Maintenance/Materials_and_Supplies/ we are hoping to get heavydutystore.com listed in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Tools/ Sorry, I guess I need to slow down and read more. Hey, Have a great day to whoever reads this ! Joel http://www.heavydutystore.com/
joelrhome Posted April 8, 2004 Author Posted April 8, 2004 Was my last explanation too complex(the rules say to keep it simple)? I tried too, but there was so much information that I need to share about what happened, and i cant find anywhere in the rules to tell me how to handle it. If anyone has advice for me on how i should properly handle this, it would be greatly apreciated. Thanks
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted April 8, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted April 8, 2004 HI, I have a problem. I would like to apologize for my ignorance in not reading all of the rules for submission. Without knowing that he submitted it, I did, and then later found out that he already did it. As this isn't a status request, I think I can answer, although I can't see the submissions. IMHO, the correct thing for you to do would be: 1. Submit a "Change URL" (or "Change listing") request in the Rochester category. (If you point out where on cookironstore.com it links back to heavydutystore.com, it would be appreciated by the editor in question.) Also note there that heavydutystore.com may have already been submitted in that category. 2. If you're convinced that http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Tools is the best Topical category for your site, you can submit there, also. If you think it's already been submitted there, you should probably not resubmit. In general, there's no conflict between listings in Regional and in Topical (i.e., other than Regional and World) categories. After one month, you can ask again in this thread. (If you think that any of the submissions not already processed were made over a month ago, you can ask for the status of those submission now.) Please keep all questions about the sites in this thread.
Alucard Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 I think the link from the old one to the new one is pretty obvious. Please submit the Update URL request and make a separate submission (if you haven't already) to the Shopping category you feel best fits the nature of your business. Thanks.

Please submit the Update URL request and make a separate submission (if you haven't already) to the Shopping category you feel best fits the nature of your business. Thanks. Thanks. I will submit the update request. I already submitted to the shopping category, So that is all set. Thanks
joelrhome Posted May 12, 2004 Author Posted May 12, 2004 status of heavydutystore.com HI, I was just checking to find out what the status of heavydutystore.com is. I noticed that http://www.cookironstore.com was removed from the directory, but http://www.heavydutystore.com was not added. Any information would be helpful. Thank you, Joel
joelrhome Posted June 8, 2004 Author Posted June 8, 2004 Could someone please tell me whywww.cookironstore.comwas added back to the directory In stead ofwww.heavydutystore.com being added to the directory I submitted it to? This is not a submission status request, just an inqiry as to what I may have done wrong. Perhaps I wasn't clear on my earlier requests. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Joelrhome
donwiebe Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 cookironstore.com was never removed from the directory, which is why it is still listed. If you were using the dmoz.org search to look for the URL, it may have misled you, as search spent some time being broken last month. Also, there is no update request pending in that category for that URL. If you want to have the URL changed, please resubmit the request. The heavydutystore.com submission is still awaiting review in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Tools/ .
joelrhome Posted June 18, 2004 Author Posted June 18, 2004 If I submit an update request for cookironstore.com, will I have to re-submit heavydutystore.com?
Meta kokopeli Posted June 18, 2004 Meta Posted June 18, 2004 http://cookironstore.com was changed in early June to http://www.heavydutystore.com/ which is now the url that is listed. I see that the public side was last updated before the change took place. Hopefully it will be viewable by you in the near future.
