cic Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Hi, I would like to ask for someone to give me a factual English explanation why the following submission : http://resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?p=75619#post75619 I've waded through 1 1/2 hours of AUP's, T&C's and submission policies, yet still I'm no closer to the truth In retrospect, I've just taken a look at a post in this thread that talked about the Addweb submission NO NO. I did pay for a submission company to list the web site on a number of search engines. As I didn't think the Dmoz submission could be automated, it didn't enter my head. However I'm starting to wonder if this is the problem.? If not I'm really start to run out of reason as to why the site was rejected & why I've been basically told not to bother pursuing a listing on the ODP. In all honesty being listed on Dmoz is something that I hold in great respect, to receive such info, I'm actually mortified, seeing that I have in the past gained listing of some 10 sites in the ODP. If you can just throw me a bone on this one, I'll be happy & we can all go about doing what it is we do, thank you.
thehelper Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 I am sorry there is absolutely nothing more we can add to our explanation. I sincerely apologize for this but we are prevented by the forum guidelines from going into any further details on this matter. We are not trying to slight you at all - we literally cannot go into further detail about this. I am truly sorry.
cic Posted April 5, 2004 Author Posted April 5, 2004 thehelper, Ok thanks for explaining this a little better any how, much appreciated. One last question, would it be a waste of time to suggest a specific category for my listing? Promise last question, and I do understand if your unable to answer this
thehelper Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Hang tight for a couple of days. I would not resuggest anything at this point. My advice is chill back and bump this thread up in a few days. You gotta understand that the people in your industry have made us extremely gunshy about Gambling sites. Submission abuse is rampant. I am not promising any additional information but your situation is being looked into.
Meta hutcheson Posted April 5, 2004 Meta Posted April 5, 2004 Would it be a waste of time to suggest a specific category for my listing? This is really a wierd conversation. If there were a specific category where the site could be listed. it wouldn't be false that there was noplace in the directory where it could be listed -- it would be eligible for listing. Conversely, if it is not eligible for a listing in the whole directory, that must mean it is not eligible for listing in any category that's in the directory. It's like telling everybody, at the beginning of a game of "Clue", that the murder was in the driveway with an automobile ... and watching them actually proceed with the game. I really don't understand. The other thread alluded to the interesting theory that the site was rejected for having too much information; that perhaps if random bits of information were deleted, sooner or later it would be listable; that perhaps ODP editors live in daily fear that someone somewhere will add information to their site without us noticing. I am at a loss to account for this also. There is a failure to communicate here that runs much deeper than the mere words and language; in the face of it, I'm not sure we could actually convey more information if the forum guidelines and the ODP guidelines permitted.

Thank you I understand that unfortunately there are & have been such individuals from the casino industry that in the past have tried more than probably a dozen ways to slip under the ODP radar. However you have my word as a gentleman that Casino Integrity Commission neither condones nor supports this type of behaviour. We are simply a legit site trying to get listed in the OPD. Sincere Regards Joel
motsa Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 However you have my word as a gentleman that Casino Integrity Commission neither condones nor supports this type of behaviour. We are simply a legit site trying to get listed in the OPD. And if you weren't a gentleman, you'd admit it?
cic Posted April 6, 2004 Author Posted April 6, 2004 And if you weren't a gentleman, you'd admit it? Well if I wasn't I wouldn't be putting that up in the first place. Fortunately I come from the old school were a gentleman's word is his reputation & a whole lot more. A commodity which can not be bought, sold or traded, however it is hard to earn & can be lost for ever without much effort. Something you may like to ponder on for a while.
giz Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 Yeah, we've pondered, for more than a while. Same result. No listing.
