MCPmedia Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Hi there, I imagine this is a competitive category http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/M/ I hope I am not doing something wrong! Thanks!
yapuka Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 Hello, This site is awaiting review in the category you mention. Thanks.
MCPmedia Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 Sorry to bring this up again before the 6 months, but I have another question(s) so it makes sense to open this thread instead of creating a new one. I think I may have also submitted my site to: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Phoenix/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/ 1) is it OK to post the same site in more than one place (if it is relevant to both) 2) since I think I posted in both a regional and the main category, which forum should I track this on? 3) can I find out if I actually submitted this site to the local category, and if so, can I have an update on the submission status of either? Thanks so much. You guys have a lot of patience. I don't know how you do it.
Meta nea Posted June 10, 2004 Meta Posted June 10, 2004 1) Yes, in the case of Regional/Topical it is. (Provided, as you say, that it is relevant to both categories.) 2) Keep it in this thread in the main status forum. Thanks for asking! 3) Yes, and yes. You are waiting for review in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Phoenix/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/ . If the reviewing editor decides your site is a better fit in the Web Design and Development subcat, s/he will publish it there instead, so no need to resubmit. Thanks! Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
MCPmedia Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 My site was added on the 21st to the following cat : http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Phoenix/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/ I was so excited I even posted it on the front page of my site like a badge of honor. This morning I looked again to see it and the category was edited today, the editor took my site out! Is there a reason I got booted? I was so happy to be accepted and now I feel terrible like I did something wrong.
spectregunner Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Since you are located in Peoria, not in Phoenix, your site was moved to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Peoria/Business_and_Economy
MCPmedia Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 I am sorry, seems I have jumped the gun. I was moved to Peoria http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Peoria/Business_and_Economy/ (because that's where my office is) However, I serve all of Arizona and mainly the phoenix area. I have clients in tucson, scottsdale, phoenix, tempe, glendale, anthem, mesa, etc etc. I dn't even think I have had a peoria client yet! Anyways, I won't look a gifthorse in the mouth, I am glad I was accepted into the most important online directory in the world. Really validates my web presence and brings more authority to my site in general, which makes me happy enough.
dogbows Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Just for the record, the regional listing has nothing to do with where you market. It is strictly where your office or business is located, so yes that is why you were moved.
MCPmedia Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 ahhh, thanks for the clarification. I am still doing the happy dance that I was accepted!
spectregunner Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Happy dances are sooo much better than the alternative. :o :o :o :o
MCPmedia Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 I was wondering if there was any update my listing in this cat: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/M/ For website : http://www.mcpmedia.com Is it just the backlog of sites that is postponing review? If so I completely understand. I have fears (maybe irrational) that either a competitor is keeping me out on purpose (somebody told me this can happen sometimes) or that I did something wrong!
MCPmedia Posted November 21, 2004 Author Posted November 21, 2004 Sorry for the bump guys, but I think this thread got lost in the shuffle.
MCPmedia Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 Hi All, I don't mean to be a bother and I know you are busy, but I was wondering if I could get a status check on my listing. I am pretty sure I submitted it about a year ago. I know it is probably a busy category and it has no editor, but I would love to be included in this category. Category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Basic_Service/M/ Domain: http://www.mcpmedia.com Thanks, and happy new year!
djdeeds Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Still waiting there for a reviewer to come along.
MCPmedia Posted January 15, 2005 Author Posted January 15, 2005 Still waiting there for a reviewer to come along."Oh swing down sweet chariot!" Sorry busting into chorus there djdeeds, I am a pretty big dork most of the time and I have the bad humor to prove it.
spectregunner Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I'm a pretty big dork most of the time That's OK, we make allowances for people from Peoria
MCPmedia Posted January 23, 2005 Author Posted January 23, 2005 That's OK, we make allowances for people from Peoria lol - I only live in Peoria AZ, I was actually born and raised in Mass. Go Patriots! (unless the nearest editor with access to my category is a Steelers fan, in which case, go steelers I guess )
MCPmedia Posted May 13, 2005 Author Posted May 13, 2005 Hi all, just popping in for a status update (I know I am a few weeks early since my last request was in January, but I know I'll forget if I don't post it now... hope it is OK ) Here's my site: http://www.mcpmedia.com/ Here's the category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/M/ Thanks!
spectregunner Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 The desire to ask early is understandable, but not acceptable. Go turn up your chariot while you wait for the six month mark. We simply cannot establish the precedent of giving status checks early, even for likable dorks from Peoria/Massachusettes. :o
