drongo Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 Hello All! this is my first visit here, I was referred here from another good forum. Well, here is my first question:- It has been a number of months now since my site http://www.property-travel-spain.com went into some kind of limbo-land in ODP. Since then it has not been available for search. I was informed by an informed by someone (an ODP editor I presume) in another forum that: "It was considered to be better in Regional/Europe/Spain/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate - where it is to be reviewed by the local editor again. " That was months ago and the site continues to be not findable in ODP Can somebody please help me with this?
Meta tuisp Posted April 7, 2004 Meta Posted April 7, 2004 It has actually been moved to Regional/Europe/Spain/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/Guides where it's waiting to be reviewed.
drongo Posted April 8, 2004 Author Posted April 8, 2004 Thanks, Is it normal for a "re" review to take so long (eight months). During all this time the site has been effectively delisted from ODP which seems a bit harsh if the editor just wanted to put it in a different category. Before that it had been in a similar category (Lodging Madrid) for a number of years. The sites content has not changed significantly in all this time.
thehelper Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Unfortunately "re-reviews" are treated the same as new submissions. If an editor does not have edit permissions in a category that they move a site to then it goes back into unreviewed. As has been stated many times in this forum reviews can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 years or more. That is one reason why we stress that when you submit a site make sure that you pick the very best category to submit to. In a perfect world we get the category right when we list sites but mistakes happen. In this case, better category placement was discovered by an editor that did not have permissions in the new category. It is just the way the system works. Sorry
drongo Posted April 8, 2004 Author Posted April 8, 2004 Thanks the helper - Not the answer/situation I was hoping for but apreciate the response.
drongo Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 Can someone please tell me the upto date status of this "re" review. If has been over two years now since it was moved to this cat for a rereview.
drongo Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 Moved: Where? Why? Come on! I expected better than this. What is going on.
oneeye Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 It is still waiting for review. It was moved to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Spain/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/Guides/ because it was listed in the wrong place - either the site changed or an error was made in listing it in the first place. As you can imagine, that is a very popular category. There isn't really much else we can say, sorry.
motsa Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Moved: Where? Why? Come on! I expected better than this. Relax. It means your thread was originally posted in the wrong forum (the general status forum) and it was moved to the right one (the Regional status forum). That's all.
oneeye Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Actually I can say more now I've looked into it a bit more. Drongo, apt. What is that site a mirror of? http://www.spainvacationrentals.com/ Is that listed in DMOZ? Yes. Will http://www.property-travel-spain.com ever be relisted No. When you come to this forum and whinge about your (mirror) site not being listed, it is inevitable that an editor is going to look closely. DMOZSS - DMOZ Suicide Syndrome. Sorry drongo.
drongo Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 Oneeye. Thanks for your time and your honesty. Mirror sites?... of course not. But at least i understand the why now at least and can stop tearing my hair out. Happy new year.
