I've submitted my website http://www.kp24.com.au quite a while in the following category:

*sigh* Please provide clickable category URL paths. Without knowing which category you submitted to, we can't give a status.

2: www.easeacold.com.au

Site is still awaiting review in that category with around half a dozen other sites. However, it is unlikely to be listed as it appears to be a "deeplink"/sub-site of http://www.pharmacare.com.au/ .

3: www.myadec.com.au

Site is still awaiting review in http://dmoz.org/Health/Nutrition/Nutrients_in_Foods/Vitamins_and_Minerals/ with around 100 other sites. It is not in the unreviewed queue to the Shopping category.

4: www.beauticianssecret.com.au

Site is NOT in the unreviewed queue to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Beauty/Skin_Care/ and is unlikely to be listed as an editor reviewing it's submission elsewhere in the directory noticed that it's a "deeplink"/sub-site of http://www.pharmacare.com.au/ .

I advice you to read part of our guidelines.

Thanks for that info.

It is correct that the 4 sites that I am enquiring about are product lines for pharmacare. I have Read your guide lines especially

"Product Listings" section.

If I can clarify that pharmacare is not in ODP nor will be. As most consumer recognise its products and not the company also their product are in a range of categories. eg head lice cure, beauty skin care, vitamins, cold and flu.

Each of its product domain fit your guide lines "substantial information, tips, advice, and usage information for consumers "

These domains are not a single product but a full range.

As in the case of one its competitors http://www.aveda.com/ which is listed and its product http://www.clinique.com/main.html

Can I get www.beauticianssecret.com.au review again and ensure that the other domains waiting are given this additional information.

A quick search for Estee Lauder gave me the following

Aveda Corporation - Manufacturers and distributors of cosmetic ..blah... Subsidiary of Estee Lauder ,

-- http://www.aveda.com/ Business: Consumer Goods and Services: Health and Beauty: Cosmetics (2)

Clinique - Sells skin care and makeup online, plus online skin-typing. Owned by Estee Lauder .

-- http://www.clinique.com/main.html Business: Consumer Goods and Services: Health and Beauty: Cosmetics (2)

Estée Lauder UK - Describes its product range ..blah... .

-- http://www.esteelauder.co.uk/ Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Business and Economy: Industries: Manufacturing: Consumer Products: Health and Beauty

Another competitor is listed more than once

Its product Lancome is http://www.lancome.com and http://www.lancome.com/index.asp plus the corporate site

http://www.loreal.com all in the same Category

http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Health_and_Beauty/Cosmetics/

I'm not trying to complain about others but show that Kp24, easeacold, beauticianssecret, myadec fit the same guidelines.

With the corporate www.pharmacare.com.au site listed it still doesn't help finding head lice cure. (On a separate note pharmacare site didn't come up with the search keyword u:pharmacare, I assume that since it has just been listed the search index has not been refreshed).

Additional to my last mail Estee Lauder also has listed another corporate site which shows all their products.

Estée Lauder Companies - Manufacturers and marketers of skin care, makeup, fragrance and hair care products. Their products include Estée Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Prescriptives, Origins, M·A·C, Bobbi Brown Essentials, Tommy Hilfiger, jane, Donna Karan, Aveda, La Mer, Stila, and Jo Malone.

Aveda is a professional product line and nothing even remotely like Estee Lauder in any way, shape, or form. You can not purchase Aveda products from their site. You must be a professional Cosmetologist or salon distributor in order to sell their products and they have to attend classes to sell the product line to professionals. You can not link to their database so your users can purchase their product, no drop shipping, no online affiliate program.

As far as the other products you have likened your situation to - none are a good analogy.

Re: Status of kp24,myadec, easeacold, beauticianS

Rechecking the Avenda, Estee lauder, Clinique sites, although they are all products of Estee lauder there appears no deeplinks that I can find, BUT another competitor L'Oreal product range Redken , Lancome etc have deeplinks to L'Oreal site and are separately listed in http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Health_and_Beauty/Cosmetics/

Pharmacare product sites KP24, EASE-a-COLD, Beauticians Secret and Myadec are the same as the L'Oreal sites in that they are "substantial information, tips, advice, and usage information for consumers " (extract from the guide lines)

I'm just asking to review the sites to see if they add substantial information, tips, advice etc which I feel that each site does and Pharmacare is not disadvantaged to its competitors.

Re: Status of kp24,myadec, easeacold, beauticianS

Once again, Redken is a "Professional" product line. Their site is not for selling their products, it's a information site and designed mainly for "Professionals" to use and place their salon location in the database if they use and sell Redken products. Only their haircare products are for resale (by salons), shampoos, conditioners, styling aids, everything else if for "Professional" use only!

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm a professional in hair and beauty industry. Your analogy is faulty from a lack of knowledge in this area. These companies (yes, they are companies/corporations in their own right) are not doing what you are doing.

You are correct that L'Oreal brands Lancome and Redken are set-up as separate companies within L'Oreal corporation. A better analogy is Procter & Gamble brands Pert Plus , Physique , Pepto Bismol , Olay , Noxzema which are all separately listed in dmoz.

Another point is that the Pharmacare brands KP24 , Ease-a-cold , Beauticians Secret are all separate business names and provide the same "substantial information, tips, advice, and usage information for consumers "

Hello Mark,

I am one of the Metas working on the Business reorganization. I also work in the Shopping tree.

Your individual product sites will NOT be listed in ODP. Per editor guidelines: http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html "Remember, no site is guaranteed a listing in the Open Directory, and we depend on editors to use their own discretion."

I'll explain why:

- We are a web *directory*, NOT a search engine.

- The contact page for each of the sites you've mentioned clearly list Pharmacare Labs as the company to contact, i.e. Pharmacare is the manufacturer.

- We list sites, not pages. What you've created with your individual product sites is the equivalent of subpages for Pharmacare's site.

- Visiting the Pharmacare website, the product sites are clearly listed - and linked - in both the right frame, and on the products page.

- A *search engine* will spider Pharmacare's site, and pick up the individual product sites.

Gimmster is correct that some sites are able to be listed in both the Regional and Topical portions of the directory. However, to be listed in any given tree a site must meet that tree's/category's guidelines. You have submitted *product* sites to categories that are _purely informational_. (If there are sites that are not purely informational, we need to rereview the site, and move it to a more appropriate category.)

If we *could* list Pharmacare's site in Topical, we'd move it to a more appropriate category in Business or Shopping. Both of these trees use a common guideline (to paraphrase): a business or retailer must (if in the US) sell in more than one US state/region, or (if not in the US) sell outside their home country. The Pharmacare websites clearly have plastered all over them that this, that, or the other thing are "Australia's most trusted ______ product!" Editors reviewing the site(s) interpret the products and the company as serving *only* Australia. Therefore, the Pharmacare site does not qualify for listing in Business or Shopping; it does qualify for listing in Regional.

My recommendation to you for additional listings? Pharmacare needs to start serving New Zealand as well.

Re: Status of kp24,myadec, easeacold, beauticianS

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes Pharmacare is currently only distributed in Australia. Is there a possibility of having the brands separately listed in the regional categories under a category that best fit each brand. As the Pharmacare brands in the same way as the Procter & Gamble brands, which are all separately listed, cover such wide range of categories eg Head lice cure to beauty skin care products.

The current Pharmacare Category /Regional/Oceania/Australia/New_South_Wales/Localities/W/Warriewood/Business_and_Economy/Industries/Manufacturing is more about a manufacture located in the suburb of Warriewood than giving user information on head lice cure and skin care products.

In answer to your comment "Pharmacare needs to start serving New Zealand as well" This is now happening and also it distributes to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Pacific Islands.

The sites now reflects this but retain the strong message of Australian made and owned.

My question is do I need to re submit the sites or can this new info be related to the reviews in each category

www.easeacold.com.au-> Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Infectious_Diseases/Viral/Influenza/

www.myadec.com.au -> Health/Nutrition/Nutrients_in_Foods/Vitamins_and_Minerals/

www.kp24.com.au -> Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Skin_Disorders/Head_Lice

www.beauticianssecret.com.au

Submited to Business: Consumer Goods and Services: Health and Beauty: Cosmetics but it appears that Category has been removed.

Re: Status of kp24,myadec, easeacold, beauticianS

The problem is that the company manufactures very different brands. A response in another discussion here "A Topical listing, on the other hand may list deeplinks if the deeplink is specific to the category, contains unique information for the category, meets the category requirements, and it, or it's parent company is not listed elsewhere in the same tree."

These brands sites I believe fit this description as they are in very different categories. eg www.myadec.com.au ->Health/Nutrition/Nutrients_in_Foods/Vitamins_and_Minerals/

www.kp24.com.au -> Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Skin_Disorders/Head_Lice

Looking at a competitor Procter & Gamble brand's they have been granted separate listing for their brands

www.olay.com , www.clairol.com , www.noxzema.com to name just a few. All Procter & Gamble brands have links on the Procter & Gamble website to their Brands web sites. I can't see why Pharmacare is being treated differently.

I've since learned that I unintentionally spread one piece of misinformation: Business does not share the same guideline as Shopping re: US v. non-US sites. I wanted to correct what I said before; my apologies.

Robert is correct that your product sites will NOT be listed.

Even if we listed your product sites, we wouldn't list them in the categories you've written, as these are for informational and not for commercial sites.
