I submitted the following site:

http://www.artintime.com

to the category

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Visual_Arts/Galleries/A/

on October 13th. I realize that this has not been a long time, but I noticed that this category was updated on October 18th, so I am wondering whether my submission was rejected for some reason. Can you please let me know the status? Thank you!

I have a related question: Do editors usually send a status notification email when they make a decision on a submission, especially in the case of a rejection? I suppose that the answer to this question can be found somewhere on this forum, but I could not find it...

Your site was looked at on October 14th and the application was moved to Regional/North America/United States/Texas/Localities/H/Houston/Arts and Entertainment/Artists and Galleries where it is waiting with less than five sites now.

Perhaps you might speed up your listing there if you apply to be an editor for that category. It is small enough for a beginner.

Thank you so much for the prompt reply. I am suprised about this category move, given that the Art-In-Time gallery does not yet have a real physical location, and the requirements for regional listings are very strict on this point. I hope that the editor for the regional listings will not bounce me back to the original category....

Regarding becoming an editor myself, I have seriously considered the idea after reading about the ODP recently. If I ever do it, I will pick a scientific category, for which I would be more qualified. However, I already have 2 jobs (in science and in art), so I am worried about seriously overcommitting myself... Should I apply even if I don't think that I could edit for more than a couple hours a month?

The amount of time you spend is up to you. And if you choose a small category (you actually will have to, as beginners aren't given large ones first) some hours a month will probably suffice.

Besides the above-mentioned submission, I also submitted the part of this site that is in French (http://www.artintime.com/En-Francais/Art-In-Time-Accueil.htm) to the category:

Top: World: Français: Commerce et économie: Arts et divertissements: Galeries virtuelles

My understanding from what I had read was that double submission is OK for sites that are in two different languages. However, I noted that this second category has been recently updated, and my site is not there.

Has it been rejected? Has my submission for the English version also been rejected because of the double submission being considered spam?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Don't worry. Neither language submission would be rejected because of the presence of the other. People are encouraged to submit multi-language sites to the appropriate World category in addition to (if one of the languages is English) the main directory.

The fact that the category has been updated recently doesn't mean anyone has actually even looked at your site, let alone rejected it. Editors pop in and out of categories all the time to correct spelling mistakes or the like.

Yes! Thank you!

I am really serious about the idea of becoming an editor here...as soon as I have a little more free time. Promissed!

Thank you for the quick reply. Sorry about the "non-click-able" link...
