There is no problem to be sorted. Staff at ODP have delibertly put in the catch to try and block "bulk sumbitters" and spammers: unfortently, as with most things, there will be a number of "false positives" that the system catches - all this does is delay submissions for a couple of days.

 

It used to be that if a submission "triggered" the "possible spammer - be wary" alert, then the submission was totally blocked and the submitter would have to send in the submission by email. What happened to those email submissions is not known (well, at least to me). At least now the submissions are being received by ODP correctly.

 

Oh - no system needs your "ISP #" (it's actually IPA: Internet Protocol Address) to send out emails/passwords or for registration purposes. The ODP just has a security check on parts of the IPA which could trigger the alerts by accident (a "used to be common" method of accidentally triggering it used to be via certain proxy servers - but ODP staff have now built in "allowances" for that).

Thanks for that insight. If this error occurs and submissions are in fact taken but diverted to a holding area for catagory is that not in fact creating more work for you guys?

Possibly - but if it wasn't in place, we'll have a lot more work to do. If spam is intercepted, it is easier for a single editor to tick lots of boxes then for many many different editors to have to go into each site individually. Ok, so sometimes the system is a little bit strict - but it is monitored and once "patterns" emerge (for example: it was noticed that it was being 'triggered' by one of AOL's proxy/cache servers) then excemptions can be put in place.

I should not go back and resubmit?

I wanted to add that I know a person that is using the latest version of ZoneAlarm Pro that has a lot of problems submitting forms (formmail) of many types. If she shuts down ZA she can submit forms, if not, she cannot. I have gone over all the settings comparing with my own older version and they all seem OK - cannot figure it out. I have even created simple forms that do not request the IP and/or user_agent and she still gets errors. Not sure what ZA is doing but it is certaily the problem in her case.

 

Just wondered if any of these submitters are using the latest ZA?

I've been using ZoneAlarm Pro for nearly a year (mainly on Windows 2000, but a little bit on Windows ME) and haven't experienced this sort of problem (and I've got the "Privacy Settings" to high).

I'm sure ZA causes a lot of the problems I have with reaching some sites. Even on this site I've never been able to use the option with the checkbox on the log in page that supposedly remembers your userid. I've tried that checkbox in various browsers, fiddled with settings in the browsers, in ZA, and in my router/firewall, but have never gotten it to work. I'm sure ZA is the culprit, but I just learn to live with it's quirks <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

I agree completely and so have I on W2K without any problems. This machine is Win98. Have gone over every setting and cannot figure it out. Shut it down and it works fine - start it and it does not. Tried setting it "low" and still won't work even with simple formmail forms that I set up. This user cannot use forms on most sites.

I don't think that has anything to do with ZA, it never works for me either and I junked ZA ages ago. Using Mozilla 1.1 under Windows I've found that every once in a while it will remember me, but most likely not. Using the same Mozilla under linux, it never remembers me. So much for standards compliance.

I want to know if there are many entries of same web site in the same category in bulk storing folder does dmoz consider it spam submission?

 

Second I appreciate if some editor help me in listing my site in this category.

Your website has nothing to do with Christanity and is not suitable for listing in http://dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Businesses/ . The religion (or lack therefore) of the site owner has no bearing on where a site is listed.

 

However, as >> Your submission has been redirected to the misplacd submissions folder. << indicates, we have received your submission and it will be moved to an appropriate area of the directory for review. Therefore is no need for you to resubmit.

When the bulk submissions end up in the Misplaced folder, we understand the cause and no, we don't consider it spam.

If your intention is that your business is intended to work mostly with Christian clients, and that you bring specialized Christian knowledge pertinent to your work, then you may deserve a listing in the category you chose. (I can see this perhaps being important in Pakistan.) However, this is not apparent from your website - you will need to add more details emphasizing this aspect if you expect the editor reviewing it to keep you in the Christianity category.

 

Another category that you may submit to is http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Pakistan/Business_and_Economy/Computers/Software/ . Try submitting ~once~ there. If you get another error, don't worry, we'll route it there from the Misplaced folder.
