alexcsdc.ca Posted April 23, 2004 Author Posted April 23, 2004 I feel like a winner! how come i'm the only poster here with 0 replies? do I smell?
alexcsdc.ca Posted April 27, 2004 Author Posted April 27, 2004 do all submission questions usually get answered here? we are anxious to find out if our submission was accepted.
Alucard Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 Since the Olfactory Interface (aka Microsoft ActiveNose) is currently non-functional on my system, due to a driver problem, I can make no evaluation of your cleanliness. However, submission for the URL you name area awaiting review in both categories you name. I will remove it from the Hardware category. Thanks.
alexcsdc.ca Posted April 28, 2004 Author Posted April 28, 2004 Microsoft ActiveNose Bwahahaha. Thanks for the reply Alucard. I have just installed Norton CleanStink to try and circumvent the problem. Take Care, Alex

alexcsdc.ca Posted August 25, 2004 Author Posted August 25, 2004 status update Hello, i was wondering if i could get a status update on my site http://www.sdc.ca it has been several months since my last request. does anyone know why the lead times seem to be sooooo long to get reviewed?
donwiebe Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Sorry, there's been no change in status: it's still awaiting review. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 1 March. does anyone know why the lead times seem to be sooooo long to get reviewed?Several reasons. We have a large backlog (do a google search for computer hardware retailers, compare those results with the dmoz.org category) and our editors are volunteers: they edit in their spare time.
alexcsdc.ca Posted March 29, 2005 Author Posted March 29, 2005 status of http://www.sdc.ca when will my site be reviewed? can anyone please help us? i believe it has been 2 years since i submitted. how long does a review take?? this seems like a horribly inefficient process.
Alucard Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 We are certainly willing to give you a status on the site, but first you will need to give us the information we need. This is all described in the post at the top of this forum, called, "ATTENTION - Forum Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING" We can not tell you when it will be reviewed, because we do not have the ability to predict the future, and we make no "time-to-delivery" committment when a suggestion of a URL is submitted to us. If you'd like more information on this, I'd suggest you read our FAQ, which is linked tat the top of every page. Thanks.
bobrat Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 If you want to ask about your site use your exiting thread http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13817 Other than that, from our point of view, it's a very efficientt process, we review thousands of sites a day. From a webmasters point of view - opinions may vary, those who submit their site and get listed a week later think we run a wonderful service, those who wait years think we run an inefficient service. Both opinions are wrong, since we don't run a service to list sites for webmasters.
alexcsdc.ca Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 thanks bobrat. i think i understand. i would love to become an editor if it would help speed up the process for me. is there only 1 editor per category? also i dont think anyone gave me a status update yet. can you do this for me? or did your reply mean it was still waiting to be reviewed?
alexcsdc.ca Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 also our site should waiting for review in the ERP category. not retailers. http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Software/ERP/ is this the case? if not, and i want to change it to ERP category, do i lose my 2 years seniority in 'the queue'?
Meta hutcheson Posted April 4, 2005 Meta Posted April 4, 2005 >i would love to become an editor if it would help speed up the process for me. It wouldn't. >is there only 1 editor per category? No. There are as many editors as demonstrated a willingness and ability to contribute there. >also i dont think anyone gave me a status update yet. can you do this for me? or did your reply mean it was still waiting to be reviewed? The latter. >if not, and i want to change it to ERP category, do i lose my 2 years seniority in 'the queue'? There isn't any seniority in the queue. It's just as organized as a beehive attacking a clover patch. Some of the bees even wander off to look for apple blossoms...
alexcsdc.ca Posted April 4, 2005 Author Posted April 4, 2005 thanks hutcheson, i will apply to become an editor. can you tell me if my site is listed in the proper category?
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted April 4, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted April 4, 2005 There's no change in the status of your suggestion, although another suggestion of your site was moved within the Business section of the directory. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were spamming. You may ask again in another 6 months.
alexcsdc.ca Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 category how can i fix this? i haven't done anything. which category was it moved to?
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted April 5, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted April 5, 2005 Somebody suggested your site within the Business categories. I don't know that it's you. And I don't know what good it would do you to know that the site is waiting in a Business category if it should be in a Computer category. Another editor may comment on this -- or may :thumb1: me for giving a status report when hutcheson had already done so.
alexcsdc.ca Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 Category Thanks, I understand that it was submitted to that category, however our business has shifted focus since submitting 2 years ago... is there a mechanism to accomplish this?
Alucard Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Yes there is a mechanism, but it's not one that you can influence. There are more than enough suggestions of this site in the ODP system. Reviewing editors will make a decision on where it fits best in the structure of the categories and then (if appropriate) list it. They will do this by looking at the contents of the site when they review it. In the meantime, the next thing you can do is return after 6 months from April 4, if you haven't seen the site listed somewhere by then, and get a status update. That would put it on or after October 4th, 2005. Thanks.
