DevelopAll Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Firstly, thank you for your efforts in advance! www.DevelopAll.com is currently listed in the category that is not exactly relevant to the current bussiness model and direction http://dmoz.org/World/Russian/ I have tried to change and submitted a request to be listed in http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Outsourcing/Business_Process_Outsourcing/ but the is no moderator; I thought of applying to be a volunteer, but felt that it would be a conflict of interest. Please advise...
Alucard Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 You are correct - that is seriously mislisted. I have moved it from the category you mentioned to the unreviewed area of the category you suggested, where it will need to be reviewed by an editor. Thanks for letting us know!
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted April 20, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted April 20, 2004 Firstly, thank you for your efforts in advance! www.DevelopAll.com is currently listed in the category that is not exactly relevant to the current bussiness model and direction http://dmoz.org/World/Russian/ I have tried to change and submitted a request to be listed in http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Outsourcing/Business_Process_Outsourcing/ but the is no moderator; I thought of applying to be a volunteer, but felt that it would be a conflict of interest. Please advise... It's not considered a fatal conflict of interest to volunteer to edit a category where you have a site, or where you intend to listthe site. You just need to follow the rules (which include suggesting 2 or 3 sites not currently listed), and convince the reviewing meta you'd treat other sites fairly. There being no sites presently listed in that category, it probably wouldn't be a good choice for a new editor, though. Even if you can come up with 3 sites that belong there, it would be difficult to get enough experience there to apply for another category. (My first category had 7 sites, which I managed to increase to 9.)
DevelopAll Posted May 27, 2004 Author Posted May 27, 2004 Alucard, thank you for your previous efforts/help.....DevelopAll Alucard, thank you for your previous efforts/help - I need your quick look at the category that we have discussed previously -- http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Outsourcing/Business_Process_Outsourcing/ - there were no listings there the last time we looked - now 4 have appeared - does that mean that I am too far on the waitng list and those 4 were ahead of me or else? No one is listed as an editor yet again - what would you suggest to do - do you have the authority to add DevelopAll to that existing already directory/category? I would greatly appreciate your help or an advise - Dmoz still has a lot of weight on the web - I'm missing out by not being part of it at all.... Thank you in advance - favors are returned at ^DevelopAll ^R
thehelper Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 The category you are waiting in has a pool of submitted unreviewed site suggestions. Your suggestion is among those in the pool. The fact that there are 4 new listings is a good thing as it shows there is some editor interest in that area. The fact is though, due to the volunteer nature of the directory it could be quite a while before your site is reviewed.
DevelopAll Posted July 9, 2004 Author Posted July 9, 2004 One more question: How to become "searchable"?! Firstly, thank you all for helping me to make the change of the category listing; Now DevelopAll Inc is listed is the desired category http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Outsourcing/Business_Process_Outsourcing/ , but unexplainably it is not "searchable" --once I enter "DevelopAll" in the Dmoz search - nothing comes up!? Can someone suggest or help me to become "searchable"... Maybe it was not placed properly or else... I'd appreciate any help I can get - thank you in advance for all your efforts! Regards, Roman @DevelopAll.com

Editall/Catmv arubin Posted July 9, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted July 9, 2004 It's in our FAQs, but I can't find it at the moment. The Search database is built from the weekly RDF dump, and is usually updated 3 days or so after that dump. (In other words, it doesn't work well.....)
DevelopAll Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 thank you Wrathchild - from DevelopAll.com [url"]http://resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?p=102262#post102262[/url] Thank you Wrathchild ! If I got your hint correctly - then I need to resubmit.... please correct me if I'm wrong. Seems that this is a reasonable option because I don't really lose much - I'm already listed + have a chance to correct the description. I'll let you know if it works... ^D
dogbows Posted July 13, 2004 Posted July 13, 2004 Correcting because you are most definitely wrong. There was no hint in wrathchild's post to re-submit. Do not re-submit your site. It is listed! The search engine just takes a while to catch up to new listings. And yes, you could lose the listing you already have if you re-submit. And last of all the description is in accordance with the description guidelines for the ODP. It is not likely it will be changed.
DevelopAll Posted July 16, 2004 Author Posted July 16, 2004 "Dogbows" - I wish you have thrown me the "bone" before I dived into resubmitting; What do you think is the best and the worst case scenarios at this point?
donwiebe Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Don't worry about it. One stray submission isn't a big deal. When an editor finds it, he or she will delete it as a duplicate.
DevelopAll Posted July 17, 2004 Author Posted July 17, 2004 I trully hope that would be the case - I appreciate your comment! Thank you
dogbows Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Sorry, I threw the bone as soon as I knew you had misunderstood. But as donwiebe said, don't worry about it. The good thing is you are listed.
